It allowed a much more fostering environment where a guild lead or its lieutenants could directly aid or help lower lvl guildies and foster a camaraderie and family based operation. It also allowed for no loss in exp due to such an imbalance of levels and since the higher lvl member didn't need the gear and or loot they would usually just hand it over to their new member.I would absolutely LOVE to see this kind of system implemented here in FFXIV because i as a lvl 70 have a very difficult time helping my lower lvl members in open world content without this system and even tho i am a mentor the buff i grant them is pretty much rendered moot because im so high a level above them that they aren't gaining exp from open world. having a mentor available to help them not just in dungeons and instances and trials would really blossom the community because then your officers and leads are not only doing current content they are taking time to foster their ranks and guilds.
