



Mayhaps because you only do casual content where half the tanks never turn off Tank stance and do crap damage as a result? Good tanks, on the other hand, require DPS to use their aggro tools. And if they don't, I will let you die. It's a great teaching method!

I swear to God Monk is the only job that gets these weird as hell gimmicks skills. This is like if DRG enmity could only be reduced by sacrificing Nastrond.


If you're using Tornado Kick in your rotation, which is now optimal thanks to RoW, enmity will creep up fast.
Of course, Diversion solves all.
I am just gonna play the world's smallest violin over the fact that SE buffed diversion and add enemity as well as buffing enemity to tank skills like every patch. So yeah tanking is definitely getting harder as it goes


From my experience its not "getting harder". My dungeon runs have usually been the same since I started the game back when like 3.3 came out. I havent noticed a frequency increase in this, but you'll always have that one group of dps or healers that try to race you to mobs or bosses for some reason, even when youre doing big pulls. They wont even have stacks of whatever they get stacks of built up. I dont get it.

It's merciful eyes, the heal.
And, technically, using merciful eyes is a reduction in damage, as Seigan is more potency per kenki than Shinten.
I admit my understanding of MNK is limited but I am pretty sure Forbidden Chakra is more important than Seigan/Shiten optimization on SAM by like a huge amount. Like they aren't even in the same ballpark.
The question wasn't one of how important the optimization was, only that there was a trade out of dps for enmity.

Which does not account for the new enmity reduction for Samurai, as it requires Merciful Eyes, and it's not Third Eye that procs the enmity reduction.
I have noticed some DPS taking aggro pretty easily, with the tank quickly commenting they should of used Diversion/Lucid etc. Although several tanks also are not capable of keeping aggro in DPS stance even though they think otherwise, which to be honest keeping aggro is the first priority for tanks then deal damage so really they should stay in tank stance until they are comfortable they can maintain it.
