I’m sorry. As a MNK who has spent almost five years without a proper aggro dump, I’m not used to Purification suddenly halving enmity.

Oh wow a couple of these tanking stories are rough. When I tank for the first time I pull smaller but as long as I tell my groups it’s my first time tanking it I’ve never had an issue with it. As for like dps running ahead once in a while I get that in low level dungeons from new players or impatient people who want to pull like its max level content, but it’s extremely rare I see that. I mean normally just if I talk with my group about what I can handle or what the healer can handle I don’t have any issues. Maybe it’s just some bad groups? Or maybe I have good luck with groups?
Naw, I find what you describe is pretty normal, it's just the couple bad experiences REALLY stand out. I think I've had a grand total of 3 really bad parties as tank. My sis, who learned it from sprouthood, has infinitely more. It really comes down to: is the healer going to back you up? DPS naturally fall into line if healer decides they'll follow the tank's pace, and if the healer's the problem, that's when it can get really bad.Oh wow a couple of these tanking stories are rough. Edit: also another thing you mention: talking to your group. Lotta people don't bother. I've honestly had a lot of terrible runs become some of my favourites because I took the time to open communication overtures to the rest of the party, but so many people are afraid of the "you don't pay my sub" retort they don't want to be the one to do it lol.

I think leveling all 3 tanks I have had that response from talking with my group twice. Really communication is the best option, but I understand people’s fears. Sometimes 1 bad experience ruins all experiences for some people. Guess it just depends on the experiences and the person too.Edit: also another thing you mention: talking to your group. Let them die, I hate the fact that dps don't realize aggro control is not just the tanks job it's the partys job.....they need to use their enmity skills and also wait for the tank to establish hate don't just quickly burst everything down before the tank gets to the mobs and wonder why the mobs are attacking you.
Id argue tanks are getting worse....not harder. But that's just me. (And I've been able to prove it....we have a rather scary good paladin in our FC)I main as PLD. Ive been noticing the past month that more and more DPS are trying to take hate from me and then make comments to me about it (SAM charging in and immediately doing there 800 pot attack before my shield lob and laughing at me for having to use provoke as an example). As well as DPS running towards the tank with an AoE effect. Ive seen tanks and myself hitting sprint and running away from DPS and getting chased. Am I just very unlucky or is this a thing now?
I will not argue that as SB goes on those that are not main tank or are just leveling it to complete the set exist. I have also heard in general tank quality is getting worse. When Im leveling my DPS classes I hear a lot of 'But my damage' comments when I ask for another overpower or flash. I try as a DPS to keep my hate down (not hard since I dont know DPS well enough to get any real numbers out there). There is an argument of tank skill is slipping.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
Because the devs don't care about uptime and saw Purification was scarcely used. Now if it only took one or two Charka stacks, you could make an argument since that puts it roughly in the same spot as Dragoon. You have to delay Forbidden Charka slightly in the same way Dragoon loses uptime if they have to Elusive mid-combat. Still by no means ideal but certainly better. Now the only time I'd ever want to look at Purification is during long phase jumps where I can quickly cut aggro and get five stacks back again. Looking at Savage, hmmm
Phantom Train: Possibly can do it either when killing them Chimney or right after, assuming Ghost cheese
Chadarnok: Nope. Straight DPS loss; tanks adjust.
Guardian: Maybe when he's flyiing up?
Kefka: Should have enough time during Graven Image
God Kefa: Tanks adjust
Kind of ironic the easiest and hardest fight this tier are "tanks adjust" when involving Monk.
