My idea for a dissipation rework would be instead of dismissing the fairy, inflict a healing magic potency debuff or silence on her (but keep the inability to resummon so it can't be bypassed by simply recasting Summon/Summon II).

Putting her in sleep mode for the time be okay i want them to do this for mchs turret for 30 seconds so no need to respawn
The real reason is because WHM doesn't fight for the shield healing spot. It fights for the regen one and only AST fills that role.
That, too, yes, but what I wrote is also part of it I think. Those are the two main factors why everyone is always comparing WHM to AST - there simply is no comparing to SCH since those two are completely different (in contrast to the former, who compete for the same spot).

Fait point ! I've always considered it an emergency skill but you're right. It doesn't have to be.
I keep my stance on the ability / buff issue. This is something that affect all healer and even warrior (since their tank stance doesn't increase healing received from abilities)
Being able to charge the gauge while the fairy is gone would certainly help.
And you were right! I wasn't around during Alexander (I heard dps check were awful).
I did heal OS3 tho

The special gimmick from White Mage has always been that it can completely recover an entire party from a near wipe. A Scholar with Emergency Tactics, Whispering Dawn, and Indomitability on cool-down is useless and when the Aetherflow runs out it doesn't matter if any of your great skills are ready. A White Mage always has Medica and Cure 3 on top of their impressive cool-downs. White Mage is brilliant when a cohealer dies. No one even needs to care. This is a super strong dynamic in a game with literal millions of new players. It keeps getting argued that White Mage needs more and is the worst of the Healers but actual numbers show it to be the most played Healer Class. I will admit that something interesting at a level of play for the best of the best would be nice on White Mage but the class really isn't lacking anything. Healer DPS just isn't a priority in this game and we all know this. We like to hit hard but Healers heal and White Mage is a "pure" Healer so why would the developers care if you're clipping Stone? Just pick a different healer if DPS is important. Choose White Mage if you wanna save the day.
