Will Gardening Be Updated in the Future?

Hi, I'm totally new to the forums and really have no idea where information on future game development can be found. Having acquired a home in the wonderful 4.2 patch, I've immersed myself in the gardening mechanic and have takening to gardening my home and my FC's gardens. However, it seems to me that when using 4 garden plots, I oversaturate the market of whatever I'm trying to sell and cause the market price to free fall. I gather the massive increase in available homes has greatly increase the supply of agriculture, but I also think that most of what's being grown isn't even relevant in Stormblood anymore. With low demand on housing crops, the system stops being relevant. I've made more gil in a week doing the Namazu daily quests and selling storm sap on the market then I have tending gardens for a month.

So does anyone know if the Gardening system will be updated with new crops that will be relevant to Stormblood crafting? (apologies if the answer is common knowledge)

Probably not the way you're thinking, no. They might add a few new seeds via submersibles or some other source, but it doesn't look like they'll add generic gathering items.

Submersibles? As in submarines?

Also to be honest, I find the "gathering" gardening items to be worthless. The only thing worth growing on the market are things that can only be acquired by growing them.

Royal Fern and Cloudsbreath are new with SB. Both are crossbreed, cloudsbreath comes from airship too.

They periodically add new rare seeds, and they are worth a lot for a short time. We might get a few more in SB, it might be the next expansion before we see anything else.

I didn't know about Royal Fern and Cloudsbreath. I just checked on my MB and there does seem to be real demand for Royal Fern. I guess I've got something new to grow now.

Gardening for sale is far less useful than gardening for crafting 90% of the time... I guess it depends on your sever as well... I was selling tomatoes for something stupid like 15k each because apparently people never check npcs...

The only time I garden is for chocobo stuff (krakka roots and color changing fruit), Broombushes, crafting stuff, or minions. Only some of those will really yield profit on the MB, and a lot of the time, it doesn't feel worth is when you put in a week of waiting, then more waiting for items to actually sell, when you could be making more gill doing literally anything else, like just directly farming silver ore and selling that.

That's why I feel the system could use an update with more minions, crafting stuff and perhaps a new tier of chocobo items or just plain old crystal/cluster seeds. I think on a busy server like mine with all the houses occupied, these old items have far too low a demand for all the active garden plots possible in the game. I'm working on getting the stuffed farming dolls from my garden plot, just to show my experience with gardening and occupy my time despite the fact that these stuffed dolls aren't expensive in the MB.
