Disappearing NPCs, PCs, & Mobs

I bought the game yesterday, and since then I've come across a big problem with actors not appearing at all. Their dot is on the minimap, and I can hear players run by me, but I cannot see anyone, and I can't click on any NPCs or mobs. This makes leves relatively impossible to finish as the only way to fix this temporarily is to log out and back in.

In some cases, even I disappear! It seems to occur when there are a lot of npcs & mobs nearby. I think it has something to do with the loading of actors on screen at the time.
I've searched for this problem but it doesn't seem like anyone else is complaining about it. Anyone have a clue as to what's happening?

No amount of waiting fixes this, and it doesn't appear to be a connection problem.

Get a solid state hard drive, it will never happen again. Also might have to do with your ram, OS, or GPU. What are you working with?

Do you have any idea of a fix that doesn't involve getting new hardware? Or anything that I can do that might help the situation?
