[PSA] Please HoT your MT in 24-man Alliances

With the release of Rabanastre and the launch of alliance raid DR, we're seeing a surge of participants in these massive party PvE content.

If you're a healer participating in this content, you can assist the MT's party by tossing some passive heals towards them - thus lightening the healing burden of that party by a fair margin. Don't forget that the MT party still has to deal with any AoE damage mechanics and/or derps from their own party mates while keeping the MT fresh for any tank busters, so any assistance you can provide is beneficial.

In the case of WHM this is simply just a matter of dumping a Regen on them.

For SCH you can possibly use a <mo> macro to spam Embrace on the MT if they're outside of your party.

Diurnal AST might have a bit more trouble as you can only have one Diurnal Aspected Benefic up on a player at a time but still possible to do if you happen to be the only Diurnal AST in the entire alliance.

Also, please pay attention to your alliance HuD as you may need to do some emergency raises on other party healers to prevent them from wipe, or shouldering a little healing duty to help keep the alliance boat straight. Even though your party should be your primary focus, healer's have the ability to fix derps across the entire board and should be doing so to prevent wipes and keeping the run going as smoothly as possible.

I know some of this is harder for controller players though I believe there are ways to cycle through the alliance list - I just don't know how. So any insight from controller players on how to do this would be appreciated.

    Thank you and happy raiding

I agree with this after MT it for the first time yesterday. An extra regen goes a LONG way. People were having a hard time rezzing downed healers as well.

You can cycle with a controller, tho I found it easier just plugging in a mouse (when on PS4)

    100% this.

I had a Rabanastre run recently where both healers in the MT's party were busy tanking the floor and for some reason the tanks weren't swapping so we finished the second boss with the rest of us healing the other party's tank for about 15%.

It isn't hard but then I do play mouse/keyboard so I assume I have an easier time than others who might use controllers.

    Quick storytime.

Back in ARR we managed to get a full alliance queue for a friend, trying to get him Cloud of Darkness' minion drop for his birthday. It legitimately surprised the MT in discord (or..was it teamspeak for us then...) and was a sight for all of us to behold when the first pull happened and 6 healing target lines converged on him from all angles as he got like 5 regens and an Adlo. That target-line sound effect was also amplified, or rather, played 6 times over. The surprise was great enough that he staggered on the pull. Pretty much everyone in the alliance saw it and couldn't stop from laughing. It was a thing of glory to see 6 healers all looking at the MT.

I will say and agree, though - MT damage in 24 mans is built under the assumption that not everyone will be looking at the tank. If you manage to get 3-4 HoTs on a tank (Including fairies as a HoT in this case), that tank will be nigh unkillable. Using our WoD run above, it was hilarious to see how much Cloud of Darkness was tickling with that amount of healing.

Helping heal tankbusters and keeping an eye out for other alliance members in danger is a great boon as well - often the difference between life and death in a 24m is whether a healer saw the damage coming on a member before it happened and quickly landed a heal before a DoT or another damage source kicked in. That takes more of a trained eye to watch out for, though. Just getting HoTs on the MT is arguably the greatest net survival gain for an alliance for the miniscule investment it requires, so yes, please try to do that!

You don't need a mouse to target the alliance's main tank on the PS4, I have L3 set to /assist. Target the boss, hit L3 and I'm targeting whoever has hate and can cast a healing spell on them. Hitting L3 again and I'm back to targeting the boss. On sch /pac "Embrace" <tt> macros are useful as well to cast embrace on a tank while DPSing.

The more you know...I will have to find this setting as I have trouble helping with ressing when in those areas(only go in with my RDM really for the new one currently, haven't gone as healer yet...might not ever...who knows).

Dont forget to tell your tank if its their first time tanking rabanastre to actually tank or at least assist with tanking!

Had a tank nearly wipe my party because he let the add go in the first fight = A=

I was not a happy healer...

Yes, it is nice to get all the healers putting an HoT on the MT, and i've done when i don't have the MT.

I'll be honest, when i do have the MT, it feels like i'm healing him on my own...and my party...

I made a joke in Discord that I was solo healing the party and got "well, you were" and i had to sigh. a simple HoT goes a long way and i normally focus target the MT as soon as I can so that I can Pop a regen on him if it's not my tank. if It's my tank...well he's right under me in the Party List anyway and other than Spot Healing and throwing out DoTs, he's got my attention.

I wish targeting player in other alliance party wouldn't be such a pain on a controller. I literally have to use the touch pad and trust me it isn't easy.
