    Magic flutes (not from sm3;)

Battles musics trigered with chains of sounds each party member could do with a special item or instrument. But more like having a single note magic flute.

When in a group, peoples can start a chain of notes depending on what flutes you have. Would be as easy to play then any other actions. No animation, just the sound. From there :

-Music coresponding to the first note played would start
-Music would fit the effect trigered. Ex:
-slowing enemy would trigger a slow song
-Raising def song would start something more heavy

-Simple flutes with C G Am would be commom stuff, while some other notes would be rare and could trigger kicking ass songs with nice battle effect.
-Would greatly augment party fun (i think)

Thats it... lot of possibilitys. Once again excuse my english.

    What do you think?

I think it would just be a better idea to implement new mechanics (Such as these) to the Bard class if/when it returns.

Just a Bard class would work out better, ability musics are right up their ally after all.

Besides that, when I first read this topic:
First thing I thought of- /bell
Second thing I thought of- bells dispensing bells
    ...

I love your ideas Kaboushi, there is the "box", thinking outside of the "box", and then there are your ideas. Musical instruments were done perfectly in LotRO, especially being able to synchronize and play as a group. While I don't think it would fit well in FFXIV, it definately added a great atmosphere to be walking through towns and hear people playing recognizable tunes from their instruments.

After reading your thoughts, the Bard immediately comes to mind, and I can only hope we see the introduction of this long-time and well-loved FF classic. They could use flutes, lutes, harps, anything- variety is good. As you mentioned, the song's triggered effect would be reflected in its tone.

Keep those interesting and entertaining ideas flowing Kaboushi!

Your idea sounds like what a Bard does all by itself

No ill-intent meant in my post: I would like to see Bard come back and fill such a role again. Why? Because it has a specialty and can offer a wider range of this type of support

Awesome idea tho OP! I like people who think outside the box! Don't give up dude

Make it like the Hunting Horn in Monster Hunter, instead of just having a Bard around as a buffer. Make it so their damaging skills give short term buffs and can be chained along for different effects. Will keep you on your toes, and benefits your ability to react, adapt, and memorize.

that reminds me a lot of monster hunter's hunting horn but needlessly complex.
