Thread: Wouldn't it be cool to have a Special Xenogears Event?

Since SE still holds rights to the title, I think it would be cool to have a special Xenogears Event to appear in FF14.

Basically the Ascians go through time and space to do a deal with Grahf as his goals were quite similar to what the Ascians are trying to achieve in both their worlds. Also considering that Grahf is quite the powerhouse as his power is just about on the same level with the Ascians though with different abilities.

I'm thinking it should take place when Ala Mhigo announces a Arena Tournament to celebrate their liberation of the city, I chose Ala Mhigo of the fact that Ala Mhigo being traditionally a land of mercenaries. I figured this was a perfect setup and it's a desert wasteland (it should be quite a throwback for those who played Xenogears if this idea is used).

As for how the events should play out, Idk. That is up to Yoshi P. and his team of developers as I think it should go beyond just the initial Arena Tournament.

I will say that maybe seeing Fei would be cool if using his ID form could be used somehow, maybe the Ascians force his ID out on a permanent basis to setup a boss fight? Also maybe using Myyah, and Deus too but I'm not sure how it would fit in the story. Something like that would have to be a alliance raid if it ever could go that far.

So I suppose how it will end is that time and space corrects itself after the defeat of the Ascian that caused the incident, and basically the characters involved go back to their own world, but having their memories erased of the incident. This idea was inspired when they did the Dragon Quest Event and FFXI event as well. Also considering the fact that Xenogears has been buried for a little too long in SE's Vault and maybe this could also generate some fandom, and give SE a "small" possibility they could revive a old IP if done right.

Outside of that, maybe the gears as mounts.

I'm still waiting for that Sonic the Hedgehog crossover that someone here got me all psyched up about a few months ago.

DISCLAIMER: I don't actually care about Sonic at all. I just think the crossover would be hilarious.

After Yokai Watch I'm skeptical of any and all crossovers.

Well I had a few other lesser reasons for this hypothetical crossover:

1) Finishing said questline could unlock the Arena to battle 1V1 or party battle with powerful creatures and characters of FF14, great alternative for those not wanting to do PVP.

2) Grahf's Design, when you think about it he looks very similar to the Garlean Generals. His design would fit right in with the game, and same goes for some of the other characters.

I guess my idea is more of a direct-add on for week's worth of content rather than a singular event, but personally I just would love to see Xenogears comeback in some form. As for Sonic...um now that's really left-field lol.

The only way that we'd get a Xenogears event would be with a Remaster or a Remake. They have basically confirmed if they do ANY crossover events, it would be for new properties and NOT "stories that have been completed" so if they are still marketing something that is when we'd see it. I believe we have basically been promised a FFXV event that hasn't happened yet, so that should be coming up, likely in the summer when they laden us with those kinds of events

Perhaps instead we could just see Xenogears themed content added as gear rewards, cameos, or easter eggs. Kinda like what Palace of the Dead did with Tactics Ogre.
