    Internal Game Failure

    So for the last few months, on and off, I've been getting a lot of 90002 errors, and yes, I've already gone through the entire check list that Square supplies for this issues, but according to my ISP there is nothing wrong. And now for the last couple of days, I've been not just getting 90002 errors, but also "unexpected errors" with bizarre time stamps. I was hoping that the patch would fix this, but no such luck. I've gotten the game off of Steam, and have tried reinstalling the game from there, including deleting all my character files and etc. Below is an image example of what I've been experiencing lately. (And both of these errors popped up today, despite what the time stamps in the error windows say.)

    Hello Nezumis, Thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums

    So to be clear, you are not getting the 90002 error anymore?

    As far as the Directx errors, please try these suggestions:

    - Switch to DirectX 9 mode (select ‘Config’ from the launcher)
    - Update/reinstall Graphics card drivers
    - Disable all programs/overlays running in the background
    - Perform a clean boot*
    - Set compatibility mode to Windows 7/8**
    - Make sure that any anti-virus software they have has the appropriate exceptions
    - Install game on C drive (The same drive as the Operating System)

    *To perform a clean boot for Windows 8/10: Open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC. For Windows 7: Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press Enter to start the System Configuration utility. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then click Disable all. For Mac: Restart the Mac, then immediately press and hold the Shift key. The Apple logo appears on your display. Release the Shift key when you see the login window.

    Yes, I am still getting the occasional 90002 error, and having followed all the advice you have given, I am still getting the errors with random time stamps. The following image is in the DirectX 9 mode.

    I'd like to get a little more information about your issues.

    How often do you get the directx errors? How often for the 90002 errors?

    Do you notice a patterns to the crashes or disconnects (only happens when transitioning between areas, only with a large amount of players on screen, only in combat, etc.)?

    Can you submit a FFXIV system report? Simply go to the 'Config' option on the Final Fantasy XIV launcher and to the right of 'System Information' click on 'Display.'

    The 90002 errors seem to be at random, and the crashes mostly seem to happen when queuing, when windowed out (I am using full screen windowed mode, with a two display set up) or teleporting from one zone to another.

    Hello Nezumis, Thank you for your response.

    As far as the game crashes go I would like for you to try only using one monitor and using full screen mode. Being that you are also getting 90002 connection errors I would also like to suggest the following steps as well.

    Please make sure all background applications (including anti-virus programs such as Norton, Kaspersky, Windows Defender, etc.) have been disabled and/or closed to minimize game interference.

    Ensure that the latest version of Internet Explorer is installed on your PC (even if you don't use Internet Explorer), please do not use Edge as that is a different internet platform. Once Internet Explorer is up-to-date, please open the IE browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
    Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
    Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
    Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
    Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
    Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED.
    [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
    Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
    Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
    Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
    Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
    Please RESTART your PC now.


    Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

    If the suggestions provided above do not resolve the issue, then there is a communication error.
    Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:

    55021 through 55040

    Your Windows 10 Education version referred to as Windows S

    Windows S does have a few built in restrictions that may be effecting it also. this is a version of Windows built specifically for school and federally staged entities and is pretty muched locked down unless you apply a group policy setting. If you have tried opening up all restrictive software and making sure the install is solid and not corrupted , you may look in this direction to see if the Education version of Windows is causing these errors.

If you have tried opening up all restrictive software and making sure the install is solid and not corrupted , you may look in this direction to see if the Education version of Windows is causing these errors.
