Greed only, to me, in old 24 man content is more than acceptable for glamours and the like for people with off classes they may not want to gear up to that point. Or for people playing catch up for those classes and running on their most geared one. Its only in the new content that I find it to be ridiculous. Why am I fighting a Dragoon with a level 62 Scholar for a pair of healer boots after /I/ was the one healing the whole thing?
I'm not 100% sure what you mean by 'Need button never always prioritized the classes'...Thats exactly what it did. The only people who could need were the people playing the jobs who could actively use it at that time, leaving everyone else with only the greed option. They'd only really have a shot at it if no one needed it first and then it was a free for all among whoever remained. I suppose for people who are after gear for a job they aren't playing its technically 'better' because now they have a chance even against someone on that actual role but that is precisely why it shouldn't be in current content. Why should I heal or tank for a group multiple times a week just to lose out on what I need to stay geared enough to do my job? The answer for most people is, they won't. They'll run it once to get the coin and leave it as I did this week because it isn't worth the RNG of farming and hoping people don't greed on things for alt classes on top of competing with my cohealer. In the long run that will hurt queue times and then those people who only run a DPS while trying to get tank or healer gear will wait longer and longer because the people willing to do that Job have decided this isn't worth their time. Healers already had the short end of the stick in that they were almost always going to compete against the other healer in their alliance for anything that dropped where as a tank has no competition since they removed the secondary one, and DPS always had the chance (however slim) that they'd be the only one in their alliance of a certain gear group. The layers of RNG involved at this point feel like a push too far and I hope they have learned their lesson seeing as even the region they said this change was for doesn't seem like they're on board.
