It's obviously Demon Hunter Knight Mage.
It's obviously Demon Hunter Knight Mage.
I'm glad someone has actually looked at SE's past record. As we all know, when it comes to FFXIV SE are very much creatures of habit, so we'll get our first real MSQ stuff on where we're headed next in 4.4, and then the first viewing of the new job(s) in 4.5 (though 3.4 kinda did some job stuff with Alisaie and RDM, so maybe here as well). For all we know this whole Garlean business could be like the Warriors of Darkness and be over after the next patch, though I do consider that unlikely.Yoshi had said in a couple of interviews that plans for a potential third job for Stormblood included an eastern-themed spellcaster along those lines in the form of Oracle from FFT.
The x.3 patches aren't really for transition points so much as ending a primary theme established at the beginning of the current story. 2.3 ended the theme of the scions only standing opposed to the beast tribes with the last beast tribe primal at that time being quelled (Ramuh in this case). 3.3 saw the end of the Dragonsong War with the death of Nidhogg. 4.3 is no different to this tradition by ending the Doma story and thus ending the biggest chapter in the expansion.
When we want to know where the next expansion will be, it's the x.4 patches. Those are the real transition patches, as they close any key loose ends (Garlean threats to the three main nations in 2.4, defeating the Warriors of Darkness in 3.4) as well as providing insight into the next areas (Snowcloak and Shiva in 2.4, introduction of the Griffin in 3.4). Also, if we were just to beeline it for Garlemald, we'd be missing out on a few key places for story that could more adequately prolong the lifespan of the overall game (i.e. Thavnair, Nagxia, Sharlaya, Hingashi proper, Aerslaent and pretty much any area on a map of Eorzea that isn't Garlemald).
However, I also consider it really unlikely we'll go to Garlemald. That would be kinda mad. I suspect we'll go to wherever the Populares movement is centred, which if SE keep following the Rome anaolog won't be in Garlemald itself but in the provinces. Probably some of the well integrated ones, as looking at Encyclopedia Eorzea there were a bunch of nations in northern Ilsabard Garlemald conquered, what, 60-70 years ago, so they shoudl be well integrated.
Job wise....I hope we get chemist. It fits Garlemald as they are kinda lacking in magical ability, fits with what we know of Thavnair, which is on the map and Yoshi-P kinda hinted at us going to sometime during 4.X and Thavnair is know be to be sorta neutral ground for Eorzea and the Garlena Empire where limited trading goes on. Tank wise, if we're getting gunblade I hope it'd be tank. Short range big boom type gun on the blade could work - see Engineer in Wildstar. Mostly though I want them to make support a fourth role and put BLU in there and shift RDM to fit it.....a man can dream......

They’ve actually already done that with some machinist weapons. I know there’s one that drops from Stone Vigil (which I think is then available as a vendor weapon sometime in Heavensward), and if I remember correctly Mide from the Alexander quests has one.
We are clearly going to be getting dancer along with moogles as the next playable race.
I think maybe if the junction is made between raid 24 and the main story, then we could see a new job in 4.5.
I am thinking about Heaven Knight for tank.
But otherwise maybe, 4.5 will be about Thavnair, so Dancer for healer.
LOL. You and those fricken moogles, I swear. LMAO. XDD Beautiful slip-in. -Now imagines your char as the personification of a moogle-
Speaking of dancer, do you guys think they'll ever include things like dancer (like, legit - not just speculation) and something like a blue mage tank (or whatever Raubahn possibly is)? I haven't been following interviews (where do I even find them?!), so I am... out of the loop.
