Hints at new class? Maybe?

I haven't read this whole thread, so I am just going to put my thoughts here, which may be repeating what other people have said.

1) It does look like we're headed to the Garlean Empire. It also may be that we're heading to Thavnair, if my hunch about their embassy is correct. I don't think SE would just randomly place these buildings in Kugane. It's also consistent with Garlemald playing a role up to and in 6.0.

2) I've heard it said that the devs were teasing a job in the patch.

3) We know that a job was cut from SB and was to have an Onmyoji style to it, and in an interview similarities to the Oracle job were confirmed. The last job which was cut (from 2.0) was SAM. https://twinfinite.net/2017/03/ffxiv...job-interview/

4) Yoshi-P has stated that DNC has a connection to Thavnair and they may introduce it at some point.

Taking all this, I would say gunblade or a fusion of the Oracle/Mystic/Geomancer is likely. Given that a job along the lines of the latter was cut, it reinforces my view that we will see a job along these lines emerge. There is also a niche for a more support-driven caster type job, which focuses on buffs/debuffs.

It depends on how many jobs they plan to introduce. If it's 3, my money is on DNC (Thavnair), Gunblade (Garlemald) and Oracle. If it's two, it's harder to say. Gunblade has not been fleshed out as yet, but they did tease RDM towards the end of 3.0 through Alisaie. Still, I don't think there was enough of it showcased in this patch to say it is for definite the job which was teased; I still suspect it will make it in, perhaps as a tank, and DNC as a potential healer. I have to say, I would really love a caster along the lines described by Yoshi-P in the interview, and if they intend to use the bell as its weapon, so much the better! I would definitely play that.

My personal view is there's probably enough content for a 6.0, which could include Sharlayan (which will bring BLU), the New World (maybe a beast tamer type job) and possibly some other areas which will deal with the "true" threats the world faces, so they would not be burning through jobs too quickly if they brought in 3 for 5.0.

Re the OP, I think Sage is highly unlikely, for one because there's already two staff users, and for another, because it's essentially already implemented through other jobs. It'd be a Sage in naught but name.
