If you had taken the trouble to read my whole post, you would have ascertained that I do have sympathy for those with maths weaknesses.
https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/us...rnt-vs-learnedSpeaking of "learned" in school, in formal writing, coordinating conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) are disapproved as sentence starting words. In addition, is "learnt" a word? Oh, and you forgot the comma after "and if not". Have some sympathy for those with math weaknesses Mr. Perfect English. When people attempt to make others feel that their skills are inadequate, it may just point out their own.

Can I ask just what Grammar has to do with finding ways to beat the mechanic?
I think we should focus on helping people with math issues instead of waving our epeens around about who has better Grammar and English skills, especially on a forum where there might be non-native English speakers.
As long as it is coherent, I really don't care how someone types.
Well. Okay.
I'll make one exception.
"I seen that". That just nnnngh. I feel this urge to smack somebody up the head when they talk like that RL.
What even was the point of this response? Do you even know? Do you understand how comparing English to mathematics, especially on these forums, is silly for numerous reasons? Are you even self-aware enough to recognize that your entire post is one big straw man fallacy? Probably not, would be my guess.Speaking of "learned" in school, in formal writing, coordinating conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) are disapproved as sentence starting words. PS: "Learnt" is indeed a word, by the way. I'm surprised you didn't know that since you so succinctly dissected the rest of their post with so much authority. I also particularly enjoy how you neutered your own nonsense "argument" by specifically pointing out that those are rules recognized and expected in formal writing when we're communicating in a very informal setting.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
The issue I have here is with the posters that act like people that have difficulties with completion of this mechanic should be ashamed of themselves, e.g., "You can't count on your fingers?", or are less than intelligent implying they should have learned this in school. I know myself when raiding in this game especially, that in the midst of constant aoes and mechanics, the last thing I need to break focus is something that makes me have to stop and do a computation. Many people are fine with it, many are not and I guess after reading all the negatives I just picked one that irked me and commented.
Thanks to the people that are actually putting forth the effort to make little graphs or explain it by example in their posts. That is how it should be approached and not by being negative or belittling.

"Fanboy is gaming jargon used to describe an individual that has gone beyond the point of being a PC or console game fan and, during online chats or discussions, shifts to defend the program at all costs, unable to take any criticism or acknowledge any shortcomings of the game or gaming console."
irony in that people don't understand that people can not understand "simple" maths.
brains a crazy place and works differently for everyone you might get something but it doesn't click with someone else, should the mechanic in the raid be removed i don't think so, i think the people who do struggle with it should try to learn in someway if you struggle to get it that's fine
its not a big deal if you fail it or not anyway one person messing it up doesn't wipe the raid its just a regular 24 man raid ,in the future DPS will be good enough you probably only have to see that mechanic once (and i dont see people running this later other then completion and coins since loot is ugly as sin).
there is nothing wrong with having a chart to help you and again nothing wrong with failing a mechanic there are people who fail much much more easier mechanics on a regular bases then this.
if someone belittles you in someway because of this screw them tbqh.
I had no intention of belittling anyone. My point was that they haven't gone overboard with the calculation requirement and kept it to very basic maths. I also made a point of saying that I understood how this could be hard for some people and had sympathy with that. I fully appreciate this can be difficult for some, but as I said, it's no different to people with dyslexia having to quickly read and react to onscreen written instructions. The issue I have here is with the posters that act like people that have difficulties with completion of this mechanic should be ashamed of themselves, e.g., "You can't count on your fingers?", or are less than intelligent implying they should have learned this in school. You tried your best in your post to "belittle" me. Didn't work though, because you didn't get your facts straight.

In a world where people can't type out the word "you", you expect them to add 7 extra letters onto a commonly abbreviated word?
Pardon for the late reply....Still, it'd take more time to consult a chart than to do that 1 digit calculation. Also this way, I am still looking at the game and not breaking my focus by looking at a paper, a tablet or even worse, alt-tabbing !
Why must people make simple things unneccessarily more complex and then it becomes the norm.
Why not take 1 minute to explain it, rather than linking those kind of things in chat... it's actually making more people fail due to the confusion lol
Because flicking your eyes at a chart/list at the side of your monitor is so slow >.>
No one is making it more complex. For some people it just is complex.
Most the runs I've did no one even bothered to explain that mechanic. And since I do poorly at it since I haven't done that kind of math in over a decade, I can't help them either. I just watch them die. So if linking in the chat helps even one or two of the people, so be it.
People in this thread simply seem to think less of the people that can't do this mechanic and it's actually sad to see. We all have something we're not good at. Instead of cutting each other down or acting all high and mighty because its a mechanic you understand, find ways to help the people that can't do this! The chart and a list further down this thread is great, but are there other ways we could help? Instead of insulting others, are there other ways this may make sense to someone with a learning difficulty, or with a brain that just doesnt grasp math like other people? What else can we do?
