I support a fix for the skirt.

This really highlights another issue - the number of tops that come with an assortment of scarves, plates, belts and bags that hang below the waist.
What I'd give for a set of 'basic' tops (like the race-locked hempen camises) that don't have all that clutter.

I would love to have separate "waist" glamour pieces that can carry those designs, and be able to mix and match!

Apparently it actually was set up that way in 1.0, but it became a design restriction that every piece of gear needed a separate waist piece designed for it, and pants needed "blank space" for the waist item to be placed onto. (Can see that with ARR-era pants, and I think also robes - I didn't play 1.0 myself, but have noticed that Papalymo and Urianger's costumes have fancy belts over what are otherwise standard ARR robe models, so I assume that's how they were originally designed to work.)

So now the waist slot is invisible, and the waist items get attached to either the top or the pants - and then on pants (and certain ruffled skirts!) they're programmed to vanish when combined with certain tops.

I would have liked to see an inbetween system that could keep the waist gear visible, but only used for some models and not others - but at the same time I can see how strange this would seem, having some items appear when equipped and some having no effect. Or only giving visible items to some classes and not others - eg. the Lv70 AST pants have a fancy sash that would be great as a separate item, but I don't think you could have something equivalent for every relic set.

But it would be wonderful to have that freedom to combine different sets, and give a lot more value to those waist items for lasting glamour.

And yes, I'd like to have some more basic "utility" pieces that can mix and match with a lot of different gear! As well as shirts, I'd love to see a set of "sleeve modifiers" so you can make any item have short or long sleeves, and either fitting or gathered styles - they have this sort of idea scattered across differerent class- or gender-locked sets, but I'd love to see some universal ones. (Or introduce them as parts of sets - it definitely feels like a missed opportunity with the Boulevardier shirt! That would look so nice with full-length sleeves but the options for adding them are few and far between.)
