New Story Trial (Probable 4.3 Spoilers Ahead)

I have to say, this is the second time I've gotten to fight a primal on release completely blind, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Byakko normal was a pushover and easy to read. This fight, while not really too hard once you understand the mechanics, actually took a couple wipes for our group to figure out during my first clear. But different mechanics aside, what I really like about this battle is just how gorgeous it is, from the changing scenery, to the music, to catching the rage and melancholy of the fight, and I love the voice acting during the fight as well. I looked up the fight with the Japanese voices to see how it was compared to English, and I love them both equally. I can only imagine how learning the EX version will be like, but this might be one of my favorite primal fights yet! As an aside, I have also learned to make sure I get plenty of sleep before the next patch comes out if I want to try waking up early to get through content... Don't be like me and have a bad sleep schedule, kids.

    @ extreme mode

dont like needing to see what weapon she is holding for mechanics (or reading texts), with so many effects going on (the boss effects, cant turn them off.. and need mine on screen; as blm main, blm effects blind / cover the boss... and like to play zoomed out too, the boss weapons look a like alot, worse when small/ zoomed out)

EDIT: after farming "extreme" now a bit, it is fun, like the color / buff changing aspect

just with randoms in PFs, with many strats to adapt too, besides some always fuck up and kill you in the process etc., it can still be a bit annoying

its not that hard but not easy, normal and ex both def harder than Byakko normal and ex, but not as hard as Shinryu, new trial ex is probably the 2nd hardest so far in SB imo ... , only Shinryu ex harder (and maybe some parts of Sunnano with fresh pugs)

wish the adds could survive a full blm aoe with a a full thunder IV tick (ok, depends on gear of party too)

    ....

the fight (normal and ex) does have nice look (when zoomed in and dead, can enjoy / see more.., but in battle notice / enjoy them less.; Byakko was optical more impressive imo, atleast certain parts and the boss himself)

like the soundtrack more than Byakko, possibly best SB Trial soundtrack so far

    story wise, very good!

Having just wiped to what the guides call 'minor raid-wide damage' of Perilune 3 times in a row in a PuG (everyone except tanks & 1 bard died instantly), I'm not so fond of the tuning on this one. Is i335 really enough? Maybe add another 20 or so onto that, from what I just saw? >(

From full health? Was their gear broken, or were they not changing their moonlights? Perilune/Antitwilight in the normal mode does roughly 20k damage (instant death in Extreme if you're not standing in the protective zone).

This is the first Ex primal I've done since frickin' Garuda (legit anyway). Had a lot of fun with it over multiple wipes and once I cleared it, went on to farm it 5 more times and got both my Sam and Rdm weapons.

As for Perilune, were they inside the puddle? You have to be in there to avoid being killed by it.

I think Snapdragyn is talking about the normal mode fight, since they mention i335, the minimal ilevel requirement to do the story fight.

Perilune should not be killing you unless you are doing something very wrong. I went in with 336 as a WHM and I have 33.8k health, and I've not died to a Perilune once unless something else happened (got hit with something else a second or two prior, etc).

Are you sure you're not eating the cleaves instead? This boss heavily punishes anybody standing near the tank. Like.... one-shot punishes.

Or perhaps.... do you have the Derpo Vulnerability debuff on you? I could see how maybe 1-2 stacks of Vuln might insta-kill you with Perilune. But that's more of a "stop sucking" thing, if that's happening.

EDIT: I'm not trying to be condescending about the "stop sucking" thing: I ate dirt myself a good 20 times because it took me forever to understand how to dodge the fans, but I eventually got fairly decent at it... until things got chaotic in the last 20% or so then I was eating fans again because of trying to do other junk. I, myself, had to stop sucking so that I wasn't dropping dead constantly which I eventually did. It takes practice. That, and the cleaves. Tell the group to mark the tank that's currently tanking her, I find that helps a lot. That way everybody would know to get on the opposite side of her because that tiny little arrow on her ring is hard to see in all the chaos.

EDIT2: Looking back at this, and Shinryu.... I'd have to say I liked this far more because there aren't so many instant death mechanics (only 1, the 5 stacks of moon) in this fight, but yet if you suck and build up those stacks of Vuln, you *will* die period. But, if you're getting Vuln, you're doing something wrong. Stop making mistakes and you'll stop dying.
