Thread: 4.3 is amazing

While driving to work this morning, I was thinking about what content I needed to play on FFXIV. Aside from Daily Ex, Beast Tribe, and Trial, I am disappointed there isn't something "new" to work on aside from Ex Trial. I really wish that the patch would have dropped with Eureka. That would have been something else to mess around in. It'll be good in 6-8 weeks when there is new content again, but it is kind of a punch to the gut that the big content drop was just MSQ and the 1 raid. Both were great, but man time for more.

In one patch we get Math Blaster, the infamous boss which took 4 hours to kill, a dungeon where you fight the monkey king, and a trial where we get stepped on! (especially the ex) what's not to like?

To me, so far, probably one of the worst patches since A Realm Reborn was released. If not the worst, probably up there with 3.1 or so. Only positive thing about it is how nice the new primal looks, but that's more of a personal thingy, and the gorgeous looking (but staggeringly boring) new dungeon.

For me it’s ok. Msq and trial and dungeon very good. What brings it down for me was the quests until you unlock the 24m raid.

I’m one of those that likes lore, likes to read the story... but this time I couldn’t take it anymore... so so boring, so so long, I got to a point I just started to skip and not read the story. For me you dropped the ball here SE. It was so frustrating that it took me the will to even try the raid yet... maybe today ..

I wish I could do the content, but Lighthouse's loot RNG keeps me locked running it over and over...

Best way to make new content old and stale 2 days in.

I'd rate the MSQ as an A+. The feels oh the feels! Great story as usual. Namazu beast tribe is cute and fun. I'd rate that an A+ as well. The new 24 man raid... I got two main complaints. (1) Greed Only loot rule is just dumb and goes against two decades of MMO ettiquette. (2) Math in the final boss has revealed the state of the education system in the United States. My first attempt yesterday at this raid did great up until this point then a huge failure. Almost everybody died at this point and then it quickly devolved into petty insults and people left in droves and then was quickly vote abandoned. I'd give this experience a D.

Still need to do the rest, but i'm going more casual this patch so probably won't get to EX trial until this weekend.

Explain what's bad about the patch. I'm personally loving it.

This patch was certainly good from a narrative perspective. Not only the big beats like in the MSQ but the small stories being carried forward present in the Doman Enclave rebuilding, the Namazu dailies, Kuranei's Custom Deliveries and even the small saltery side quest. Particularly the small stuff as a backdrop gives a sense of the story of the world progressing beyond the main events.

Beyond that I have enjoyed the content (save for that one fetch quest in the 24 man questline that felt rather out of place) and, particularly as someone with crafting classes, there has been plenty to chew on.
