Same, im a seasoned veteran (like many others) with diagnostics and it was of none effect.
If i cant get on in a couple days im done playing the game, it is unacceptable.
The patch isn't the cause of the crash you are getting. For further troubleshooting, I'd recommend creating your own thread so we can better assist you.

My first thought is when you were disconnected, you were placed somewhere that is more difficult for your connection to reach, but not impossible. Your character may have been put into an area behind a port that your router has blocked, so the first thing may want to try is opening all the ports the game requires (If you have access to a different router/connection, such as at a friend's house, you may find it easier to log in and move your character).
Check the following Port Ranges on your router/modem to ensure that the following Port Ranges have been opened/forwarded/triggered:
▼TCP
54992 through 54994,
55006 through 55007,
55021 through 55040
Your ISP may forward these ports for you.*
If this does not solve the issue, try some of the following options:
Make sure your Anti-virus/Firewall has the appropriate exceptions for the game.
Use a wired connection as opposed to wireless.
Reset your router by turning it off, then back on.
Open the Internet Explorer browser, open the "Tools", go to "Internet Options" and adjust the following settings:
- Under the "General" tab, please delete ALL browser history.
- Under the "Security" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or no higher than "Medium"
- Under the "Privacy" tab, please move the slider to the lowest possible settings or to "Allow All Cookies"
- Under the "Advanced" tab, please make sure that "Allow software to run or install even if signature is invalid" is CHECKED.
- Make sure that all SSL and TLS (EXCEPT SSL 3.0) are CHECKED. [SSL 3.0 should be UNCHECKED]
- Hit "Apply" to save the settings, and then "OK, to close the Internet Options menu.
- Right-Click on the FFXIV launcher icon and select "Properties"
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab, and change the compatibility mode to "Windows 7"
- Hit "Apply", then "OK" to save the changes.
- Please RESTART your PC now. Once your PC has been restarted, Right-Click the FFXIV launcher icon once more and select "Run as Administrator"

This was not a fix, so it seems whatever has gone wrong is solely on the game's end. Or is probably a very major bug seeing as it has affected quite a few people now. All of whom DCed in the middle of an instance

Error 90002 here too. I was in Ruby Sea, clicked on an NPC, there was no response and the game kicked me out with that error number.
Logged back in, had to go to Yanxia, used Teleport, I teleported but my character is nowhere to be seen. And then I couldn't log out at all. And then about minute after that, game kicked me out, again error 90002.
I did not change anything on my connection and my PC, this started happening for no apparent reason.

World: Omega (EU)

Is anyone who is having problems running on Windows 10 and did you by chance have a big update recently? My game was working ok last night, but then overnight my laptop installed a big Win10 update. After that I was getting a DirectX error every time I tried to log in from the launcher. I was eventually able to get into the game by switching from DirectX 9 mode to DirectX 11. The game seemed to be running fine for the evening after that, but when I logged out it gave me a black screen and some more DirectX errors.
Unfortunately, I didn't write them down. If it does it again tomorrow I'll make a note of them. I just thought I'd throw it out there in case switching from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11 (or vice versa maybe) might help some people get in...
I may try rolling back the Windows update if the problem continues.
I’m also having this issue. I can log into my main on the Moogle server just fine, but my Adamantoise character continually gives me the “cannot connect to server” error, and when I was last playing, I was attempting to complete an instance for my class quest and DC’ed in the middle of it.
The character is Lucina Liera on the Adamantoise server, and I have no issues running the game on Moogle with no background apps open.
After doing a fresh install a second time, i was able to log in and play for about 10 mins, was online for about an hour afk however. Not sure what resolved the issue but when i reinstalled the game the first time yesterday, as soon as i would get past the launcher, 2 seconds the game would crash.
Error is still ongoing. We gonna get any kinda of answer or continue to have to sit here in silence?
I would be inclined to think that escalating it to getting the entire server reset (kicking EVERYONE out) would perhaps fix the issue.
