Chocobo DF a great disappointment.

I thought the new chocobo DF would match us up with other players.

Turns out no, it's just the same thing as the GS, you can now just queue up anywhere for it.

I would literally wait 30mins+ just to race other players only. Instead, we are just getting the same old, wait 20 or so seconds, and be matched up with only NPCs. Why even display the "less than 5mins" wait timer, there's no point.

I just get thrown into any old ordinary race with NPCs, despite it being cross-server now, because it won't wait to fill up with players.

I suspect players are too busy doing new content atm.

Even if that is the case, the duty finder still doesn't allow all that much time to fill up with players. You're just stuck with NPCs as always. If anything, since not many people race chocobos, it will only get worse in terms of player numbers queuing for the duty.

Well that actually sounds good to me. The wording they used made me worry it was ONLY going to be races against other players making me worry it was no longer going to be worth it at all to do these races. I was definitely not about to sit around waiting for 30+ minutes or possibly never see a queue pop waiting for other players for this. If I’m doing it I’m there to level a bird and/or get my mgp and go.

Not sure why they couldn’t add an option for only human opponents for those who want that through. But I’m glad they didn’t just get rid of npc races. In fact I wish they would add an option to not even bother spending 20 seconds looking for others and just insta pop the races.

They should just have it that if you enter the races from the gold saucer, that you race against NPCs, and if you use the DF, you race against players. That's how I thought they were going to implement it, but they didn't sadly :/

I suppose this is a matter of personal preference. I find it perfect.

Personally I'd hate to wait 30 mins for real players (though I do think this change will get more players to queue up). All I wanted was the ability to queue without having to go to the gold saucer. After all, that means now if I decide to go work on my ARR sightseeing log, I can go somewhere ahead of time and do some races while I wait for the correct time range.

Or if I know raid night's coming up (and I always wait by a mender so that way once we start I don't have to go far when we repair), and someone's late, it's something to do that doesn't take very long while waiting for them to get on.

Well of course, if there is a way that everybody could be happy that would be great.

Maybe they could add a quick match feature that works as it does now and a full match feature that would wait until the duty is filled.
