    Harder 8man

    Hi,

    I was wondering if people would like to have harder 8man (not Primal for this thread)

    Currently 8man have two setting, the basic normal story mode and savage.
    Unfortunately the difference in difficulty between these two is rather huge leaving a gap when it comes to "medium hard" content (Primal Difficulty in other words)

    The normal 8man are, from a difficutly PoV, a joke. Beside the last boss that you may wipe once or twice on release day, there is no real difficulty.


    They could easily be done in a 4man setting. They have no (or extremely easy) dps check, no enrage and can be done by any party having 1 dps and 1 healer remotely competent.

    Then you have savage which requires much more thought and time and luck (like, finding a party that doesn't disband after 2 wipes)

    So here's my request, what if 8man had 3 settings.

    Normal which is super easy, but these wouldn't give any gear (like Normal Primal), they'd be here for the story so casual player can enjoy.

    Then we'd have the "extreme" version which would roughly have the difficulty of a primal going from easy primal for the first boss to harder primal (I'm excluding ShinRyu from this, this is more like a savage primal)

    And finally your regular Savage which could perhaps start on a harder fight.

    The point would be to make the "regular" version a bit more challenging and less brain dead for casual players. Regular 8man are so easy, it's like a fancy expert roulette on a weekly basis.

    This could also, potentially, make more people step in savage as the difficulty gap between "extreme" and savage wouldn't be so big. So player would be less alienated, there would be a softer progression curve.

    Normal modes are story modes, Hard modes are redesigned concepts, EXs are for Savage gear catchup, and Savage is where the content for most players is.

    I agree that we need to use EX difficulty more. Besides that I don't know what you're talking about.

    biggest problem I think, would be the need to create an entire set of gear for those dungeons.
    normal -> 360
    hard -> 365 ?
    savage -> 370
