Interest in Adopting a New Raider?

Been having a few thoughts lately, and I wanted to share it with the forums and see general interest in what some of you may think of this. I was thinking of running little program in which experienced raiders, if they had time, would be willing to take new, prospective raiders or raiders who need that extra personal boost, under their wing and teach them things like how to perform better in their respective jobs on a Savage level, how to improve and optimize, etc.

Now, with that being said, this wouldn't preclude a basic knowledge of their jobs, and this also requires both the raider and the prospect to being respectful of one another i.e checking egos at the door, being willing to accept criticism, not being jerk, etc.

The idea behind this actually came from my time in the Adopt-A-Hunter program. For those unfamiliar with that, the program was something that players experienced with the Monster Hunter series as a whole started and they would voluntarily take players who were new to the series and teach them how to play effectively in Monster Hunter World. And from I understand, the program was actually quite successful.

With all the resources available online, of course players who wish to raid should be able to learn all they need, applying that to practice in order to actually be good on a raiding level. What I propose is an additional avenue to that. Obviously, this is primarily for a raid scene, but I could see this being used for other players who don't raid as well.

I wasn't sure if I should've did a poll for this, so for now, I'm just curious if this is something that you'd think would be good for the community, and if you'd be interested in volunteering if it were to happen - either as the mentor, or the prospect.

Adopt a Raider sounds like it could be a good, fun program if it was handled right. Adopt a <Job> might be a good side note for that too, connecting people who know certain jobs to people who want to learn them would be a nice system to try and get in place.

I think it's definitely worth a shot. One of my biggest issues getting into raids is the anxiety/frustration of playing with PUGs, which I know some other players share.

I wonder if this would be worth discussing with The Balance Discord? Given the insane amounts of theorycrafting they do (I swear they must do it for like 16 hours a day with how complete the theorycrafts are, they're so dedicated), they'll know what's best. And could potentially be the guiding light. It feels like this would be their area of expertise.

As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

While true, there are some who have a bit of a hard time learning through written guides, and there are quite a few servers in which the NN is either useless, or the player themselves are unable to use it because they are no longer eligible to use the NN. I'm willing to bet that there might be some players who could either use a bit of mentorship from an active raider to get them started on the first steps, or maybe others who would be able to optimize better with a skilled player in the same job but don't necessarily have the networking (or are just plain too shy) to have that personal training.

I would be up to mentor some Black Mages, it sounds like a fantastic idea.
