If you have a fb account i would suggest searching for the Zalera fb page and asking - you'll get inundated with fc offers haha.
That way you can pick and choose since not many folks visit the official boards

I recently moved to Zalera and would like to find a friendly and social FC. Is there someone I should message in game?

It’s been 3 years since I played, is there another way to join besides a direct invite from a member?

You can submit an application to join a FC by finding any member of the FC you want to join.

Target them and open the sub command menu.
Choose "View company profile" and choose "Submit Application" at the bottom of the profile window.

You can also perform the same by visiting a fc's house and clicking on the placard
