    A Gambit System or New Class

    So, I haven't played the game in a few years. My favorite combat system of any Final Fantasy was that of Final Fantasy XII; The Gambit System. I recently read that the game is returning to Ivalice.

    Questions: Have there been any new classes or systems added to the game that would allow it to be played like the Gambit System from FF12?

    Any information you could supply, would be greatly appreciated.

    Nope. The 'Return to Ivalice' raids are simply fanservice, they're not the FFXII/FFT Ivalice plonked in Hydaelyn (or the player visiting the FFXII/FFT Ivalice), but just Hydaelyn-specific areas in the Far East that reuse certain character names, monsters and places from those games (just like the Crystal Tower raids not being FFIII's final dungeon, Gold Saucer not being the same one from FFVII etc).

    And there is nothing like the Gambit system here, unless you regard macros as gambits (which you can sort of do by setting wait timers on them to execute). But that's a real stretch I'm afraid. And I don't see SE adding things like that, as they're pretty dead-set against automating combat abilities (as that goes into dangerous territory - i.e. botting, so I'll just leave it there).

    That's a bummer to hear. I just wish I could find another game that has that kind of combat. It just seems so rare for being such an awesome system. Thank you for taking the time to reply. :-)

    i wish we could use gambits for the squadron. FF12 had the best AI i have ever seen, simply because i have programmed it myself ^^

    but gambits for myself? i mean i enjoyed FF12, running around and rotating camera while everything else worked by itself was relaxing. the only time i had manually use commands was in the Omega Mk.12 fight. all the other bosses killed the AI alone xD

    but i don't want something like that in this game. this is an online multiplayer, with real people behind the player characters. i don't want to play with bots.

    I loved FFXII's gambit system. (Loved the whole game, for that matter.) But I don't think it would work as well in a multi-player game, at least not for our main character. But I like Tint's suggestion of adding it for our GC squadron. It'd work great there.

    FF12 is my all-time favorite FF game, and I absolutely loved the gambit system. Unfortunately, it wouldn't work at all for multiplayer. However, like Tint suggested, the gambit system would be perfect for squad command missions.
