Like I thought I could have one outfit, glamoured with normal prisms, and then make a separate plate for the 2nd job. Turns out you can't I really don't feel like using up 3/10 of the available plates just to make my DoL jobs look different. So yeah, i'm a bit disappointed with the system and will stick with prisms I think.
I think you seriously misunderstand how the glamour plates work if you think that "stick with prisms" is any particular benefit over the plates.

Think of them as a way of doing multiple glamour prisms at once. You can make a plate for another job, just need to apply it. No different than if you were using regular prisms and needed to glamour different pieces for different jobs.

If you think of them as just an express way of doing multiple prisms at once (that can only be done in cities), it makes a lot more sense as to why there's no downside to it over prisms. They're not 2 separate systems, they're the same glamour system, just 2 different ways of using "cast glamour".

And because they're the same system, you can mix them. You can do some glamours with prisms and then do other glamours with plates, you can overwrite glamours from plates with prisms, and vice versa. The glamour system itself does not change, just how you cast it (and how many glamour prism items are needed to do it).
