Your MMO History

Many of us here have played various other MMOs before this one. What is your MMO history? And is there something in particular that you like about FFXIV that is not present in other MMOs you have played?


MMOs I used to play but not anymore: Guild Wars, Aion and Maplestory.

MMOs I still play from time to time (apart from FFXIV, which I play regularly): Guild Wars 2 and Star Wars: The Old Republic.

For me, what I like about FFXIV in particular are:
1) the race options
2) the graphics
3) the crafting system (which is more complex than in many other MMOs)
4) the trinity system (GW2's lack of a trinity system just made it feel shallow and unsatisfactory to play)
5) being able to play all jobs on a single character
6) the various emote options (I particularly like the /hug and /pet emotes as well as the numerous facial expressions)
7) being able to choose between various standing and sitting poses

Fellow Phantasy Star Online player, yes! I was big into jp PSO2 when it first launched til like the bouncer saga but then I fell off the map. Even after they revealed the second coming of Alis Landale oh my God. I just couldn't keep up and I hated TACOs so, so much. Love the costumes. Don't miss the non poseable popsicle hands.

Besides that, I've only ever played FFXIV. Does Grim Dawn count?

tried dc online, age of conan, and tera briefly.

I really like champions online, mostly for customization and roleplay. EQOA was a lovely game, a technical achievement; it was a seamless open world game. I would just go sometimes and listen to the rain fall in the fort along the sea in Dark Elf territory.
