That is assuming you already have all your classes at Rank 50. If you had the money for high gear for your lower rank class, Given that that gear favors that class, would you bother looking at the lower rank gear, knowing that the stats would only be like 1 or 2 points lower?

Blame me for using the infamous min/max words while commenting on OP suggestions.

Agreed with stat allocation locked for each class (if you tried to get optimal stats when switching often between DoW and DoM like I did lately you know what I mean), but wasn't too hot on the possibility to re-allocate all your stats at once at anytime, because min/maxers (should have said "people that like to be optimal for the role they're required" perharps) would spend a lot of time re-assigning before every mob/situation.

Just locking stats for each different class seems the perfect system to me without breaking everything.

Not talking about stat formulas since it,s a complete different subject in my opinion.

On-Topic: I'm indifferent about the subject, if they do away with it I'll probly play more classes, if not i'm DoM for life. I'm happy either way.
Well it cant really hurt if you minmax, what does is when someone becomes really obnoxious about OTHER people's stats is when they become a problem. Thats one of the reasons i never raid in other games.

Ah ok, because I am a full support Conj, been that way since beta so i just cap of HP/MP then if i have points to spare i'd either put them in pie or int or as I did last time put into mp so when i lvl i don't have to.

here is some irony. Everyone wants class uniqueness, which is in reality what we have atm, just a more choatic form then disired (with gear can be worn at any lvl, I agree some form of rank requirement is needed but add more styles through the ranks.) If you define classes too much cookie cutting takes forfront, and infact everyone will be the same. (which is what cookie cutting is) it makes mmo dull. It also makes getting groups harder. I rather be known as a good player and invited then justy another monk on the list sorta speak. We should stop promoting cookie cutting and make this game more about customization. I think removing Plvl and defining the classes would promote cookie cutting.

I started as a full support conj and after that exploit fix I got left behind in rank so I switched to Gladiator, took me 4 hours of reallocating to get my points back so i can put them into tanking stats.

Now that SP is fixed so I can actually get SP for supporting my team I spent another 4-5 hrs reallocating my points. Was slightly annoying but netflix eased my pain.

Min/Maxing can become an issue if you (personally) want to play more than one class and mix and mash the skills. IMO, it may work for some people but it doesn't for me.

For the way I play, my build is often compared to a Glad/Pala because of my high VIT and PIE. But I don't like tanking. Can I tank? Yes, yes I can.

Currently, as long as you know how to play your class well and know how to use your skills (ie. situations, damage, etc) Stats don't mean too much. If your party wipes, you wipe. And all it takes is one person to not pay attention or to not know how to play their class because they got Power Leveled all the way there; not because someone is 20 stat points off.

Too many people focus on what their stats are looking like and what gear they are using; if you know how to play your class right, it doesn't really matter.

I agree if you choose to min/max good, but don't force it on others.
In ffxi i played rdm best as a dd/caster. I dispeled w/o issues. I had most/all my stats up and it was my first job to 70. I had no mp issues also.
I got tired of ppl telling me out to play rdm, yelling at me and shouting how I suck at rdm cuz I melee and to not invite me. I did try backlining it and I was bored I skrewed up alot.
