Diminishing Returns: Wiki
Min/Maxing: Wiki Again
I usually don't condone the use of Wikipedia for learning, however, it is a good place to start.
But I see now

Min/maxers are people who optimize their skills for their gameplay style, the term stems back from tabletop games where people would take penalties to some stats that they usually would never use to maximize the ones that they would use more often, there was it that hard to answer him?
This is the min/maxing people are usually referring to -- it's also what becomes the "standard" and anything straying from it is generally looked down upon.Min/maxers are people who optimize their skills for their gameplay style, the term stems back from tabletop games where people would take penalties to some stats that they usually would never use to maximize the ones that they would use more often, there was it that hard to answer him?
Understanding and not understanding is all based around understanding what was misunderstood.Min/maxers are people who optimize their skills for their gameplay style, the term stems back from tabletop games where people would take penalties to some stats that they usually would never use to maximize the ones that they would use more often, there was it that hard to answer him?
I misunderstood what he had a problem understanding, thus I was not able to help him understand.
Providing links on the other hand would let him find all the answers he had or will have on the topic. Preventing Him or I from misunderstanding what is understood or not.
I personally love the way the reassignment button works right now, because you can fix exactly what mistakes you made. But not so much that people will not have to pay for not making up their minds initially.I disagree with the removal of the physical level system, it is one of the few things that makes this MMO completely unique. I would however like to see some changes made to the current system.
*Removal of the reassignment button.
*Removal or lowering the amount of physical exp gained from way of hand & land classes.
*Add stat requirements to some gear.
*Add quests in order to advance physical levels at certain points i.e. a quest to advance at 10, 20, 30 etc.
This would allow players to be more "unique" and would add more diversity for future updates and content. As part of the advancement quests mentioned above all the allocated phys lvl points would be reset upon the completion of said quests.
And yes, same stat requirements should be needed. There is no way someone with 15 str can wear chain mail with the best of them. It's impossible, and I refuse to think otherwise. And there is no way you wouldn't shoot yourself if you weren't 'dexterous' enough.

“Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are a good person is a little like expecting a bull not to attack you because you are a vegetarian”
Even better answer, so next question, is that considered good or bad in XIV? cause I think I fall into that category. >.>Min/maxers are people who optimize their skills for their gameplay style, the term stems back from tabletop games where people would take penalties to some stats that they usually would never use to maximize the ones that they would use more often, there was it that hard to answer him?

On-Topic: I'm indifferent about the subject, if they do away with it I'll probly play more classes, if not i'm DoM for life. I'm happy either way.

Is not good nor bad.Is a playing style.Only hated by people who dont like to maximize their role on some situations.Or simply those who dont care to do their best performance at all.But of course there are limits to this, some might take it to the extreme and just call anyone who dont follow their rules worthless, this is bad .But the same could be said to those who dont know how to play at all long past their noobs days and dont respect others in party simply leaching their way .Is a matter of moderation really.Even better answer, so next question, is that considered good or bad in XIV? cause I think I fall into that category. >.>

Like some1 so brilliantly said before, if you dont like how they play , then dont play with them , is pretty simple.
Ah ok, because I am a full support Conj, been that way since beta so i just cap of HP/MP then if i have points to spare i'd either put them in pie or int or as I did last time put into mp so when i lvl i don't have to.

Well it cant really hurt if you minmax, what does is when someone becomes really obnoxious about OTHER people's stats is when they become a problem. Thats one of the reasons i never raid in other games.Even better answer, so next question, is that considered good or bad in XIV? cause I think I fall into that category. >.>

I agree if you choose to min/max good, but don't force it on others.
In ffxi i played rdm best as a dd/caster. I dispeled w/o issues. I had most/all my stats up and it was my first job to 70. I had no mp issues also.
I got tired of ppl telling me out to play rdm, yelling at me and shouting how I suck at rdm cuz I melee and to not invite me. I did try backlining it and I was bored I skrewed up alot.
