Well, that would kinda collide with the " you are a character, not a job" ideology?
I mean, you already have a lot of skills from other classes, so you are overpowered anyways.Compared to someone who just started brand new.
Why not instead let you customize your character fully?Or at least to a degree when the impact at lv 50 to move stats around is important and not minimal.

Yes but you cannot set all the skills from another class. There are still action points. At R1 you couldn't set more than maybe 4 skills that use AP

I prefer they keep the physical levels and the bonus points that you can allocate to a stat of your choosing. I think being able to increase and decrease stats yourself goes along nicely with being able to set abilities and spells you learn from different jobs onto the job you're currently playing as. It makes people play a certain job in a variety of ways. A DD might want to stack on the PIE so he can cast (and it'll stick) Absorb spells while another DD would stack on the MND so that he'll have more MP to heal (might be low on healers in that fight). While a third DD just focuses on STR and DEX for massive melee dmg. And maybe the party might need a DD to become a tank and that DD could stack on the VIT. It gives the player different ways he can play his favorite job based on what he likes doing and lets him change things up if he gets tired of playing it a certain way. They do need to make the stats you allocate more effective though.

I think SE was spot on with having Physical Levels, why? Because it forces us, the players, to make a choice. We have to actually create and develop our characters to our playstyle ideal. Without physical levels mixing and matching doesn't have the same appeal, and everyone will be playing the calculated 'best build' for each class. Soon, we will get stuck in a position AGAIN, where if you don't play with the best skills from a set group of classes to be in a party.

I personally, would be miffed if it came to that. There is a big difference between things being De Facto or De Jure. Right now, we can be as custom as we like, but we have to sacrifice for it; which is what makes it so great.

If everyone is perfect, then there is no uniqueness. Perfect is no longer perfect, it's normal.

With all that said, "I want my allocated points to mean something."
