Mostly the friends I made over the years. Otherwise I wouldn't have been motivated for other content like savage or Ultimate.

as it current standing, this game is the perfect mmo for me.
- focus more on PVE which is a big plus for me because iam not into PVP (most mmo games nowadays is either pvp or guild war oriented)
- for tab targeting mmo, the combat pace is perfect (WOW is waaay too fast for me)
- you can just use one char to get all class, no hassle through login logout new char procedure
- love the graphic, i come from lineage and ragnarok online era so i prefer this kind of design over WOW style
- the overall aesthetic in this game is amazing
- the only AAA mmo game that i can play with less than 200 latency lol
and iam sure this is the only mmorpg out there currently that crafting class actually have storyline, not just be a herbalist and start spam making potion 24/7 until max lvl
I ask myself this a lot ,
Sometimes i don't know im Aus on Chaos data center so its pretty dead on my normal times feel like i cant move or ill leave friends ive made who i enjoy playing with (even though most are on at 1am my time),but i like the customisation and the gameplay, story was nice in HW ,i agree with the other person that its the last FF feeling FF game but only really have ff15 to go off on that, i practise o7s every now and then lately even though i find it kinda boring compared to o5,6s im not a hardcore raider but id like to complete a full tier for once,Art direction is nice and so are the races (should add viera though). Game can be dull and dry sometimes but i normally find something to do and new content is always enjoyable to me.
I'm not sure to be honest.
Probably to keep my house, but I just login queue expert, speed run trough it and immediately close the game afterwards.
Last year I was so hyped for Stormblood and watched every single live stream, but once I got trough it I was like 'wait, that was it?'. The first patch was kinda ok but after that everything has been going downhill.
I just don't feel that drive anymore, like coming home from work and do your chores and then spend your evening playing SB. I used to have that in the beginning but now I'm just bored to death and I'm unimpressed with the next patch as well.
The freemium app and recent Mogstation stuff has not been to kind to this feeling either.
Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
It's a way to keep in touch with family members over longer distances, make new friends and acquaintances in-game, and just...spend time relaxing with a hobby that I've enjoyed doing since my first console, I guess. I've been playing video games since I was fairly small, and board games before that even.
I own a small private house that I don't want to lose, helped decorate my fiance's small..and it's just something that we can play together that we both like and enjoy doing. We don't always like the same games and a lot of the ones we do like are single player anyways, so one usually just ends up watching the other play and vice versa. I still haven't completely done everything in the game, so there's that too.
I'm the only one left who plays in our FC, so I am the only one stopping the large house from being destroyed, just in case some come back and want to use it. I also have a medium house I don't want destroyed. Other that that, I wouldn't really play anymore :/ I am trying to do Eureka atm, but at lvl 8 it feels worse than the diadem ever was.
My FC used to be a pvp FC, but when they changed the way pvp worked in FF14, everybody left. Now the game just feels lonely.

This is a big part of it for me also...Honestly...And this is just me...
I play it because it's the last FF that actually feels like a FF to me.
Yes, I have my issues with it and it does get boring sometimes but the story, music, the locales, all the throwback and nostalgic references keep me coming back. Especially if you grew up playing the series.
I miss FF and the magic..the worlds..all of that. FFXV isn't that (it's a Las Vegas trip with wannabe FF boys)
It's also the best mmo because the devs understand that fun comes first and that it has to be for everybody. I also love the class balance. I know dark knight isn't in the best spot ever but compared to how other mmos are balanced FFXIV does a great job.
You can tell that they value our support and are humble enough to cater to us instead of catering to their ego (this is what a lot of mmos devs do)
The focus on pve is also very important to me, too many mmos want to force you to pvp

Story, graphics and music style, job system.
Game runs pretty smoothly even on my archaic PC.
Playing this game feels relaxing to me.
Not as toxic community as others MMO have.
I just got back from a break but after playing for a few days I'm starting to remember why I played this game and left. Outside of the story and the occasional chuckle from the puns, the Ivalice raid and the Omega raid are what keep me going. I already realized that this game is a time sink that does not favor people with limited time or people with alts or both, which is a shame because I'm currently in the third category. I used to have enough time to play and even have an alt but that changed. Also the increase of cash shop exclusive items makes me feel like SE sees me as a "monetized sucker" instead of a customer or even a gamer. You can take my money but if you aren't making me smile then I'm done.
