Because it's awesome.
Because it's awesome.
I'm "still" playing because I'm a new player, about six months in now. I like the graphics, I like the MSQ story, and the community is friendly and active. I was tired of WoW after nine years and FFXIV appealed to me more than GW2.
There are things I'd change if I could, primarily the alt-unfriendliness. I like alts. But overall I enjoy it.
Main reasons I keep playing:
1) MSQ
2) Glamour
3) Graphics
4) Community
5) House
Overall, I'm still playing the game; if I ever get bored with it, I just play other games until more content arrives.
[super inactive on this Forum LOL]
Social aspect and Merchanting after a long day of real work... So yea, FFXIV is cheaper then drugs, cigs and booze...
Least here can do some content with people, chill, design a house, help others enjoy the game. By doing so, I feel happier myself. Just needs more FFXI in it...
I'm still playing because at this point, I am driven to be a good player. I feel so far behind my peers right now, so I am driven to be as good as them. That's essentially my only reason for playing right now.
I'm barely playing. I log in to raid and that's it.
Aside from that, I still enjoy the MSQ.
I've just came back after a couple of months off. I love it when you first login and my FC chat goes crazy with everyone welcoming me back, it's a great feeling and I am lucky to be in a FC that is like this.
I'm not too good at grinding up levels, but I find on each return to the game, I am able to get a set class and or job to 70. I normally return just before new content is due to drop, so I get up to speed with any raids I've missed out on and then I am able to run through all the new experiences with my FC, which is so much fun.
The reason why I had to stop playing was FF finally had killed off my suffering PS4 and I decided to get a PS4 Pro to play the game on, as I got an 4k TV with HDR at Christmas, just for gaming on, so to finally have the PS4 Pro to get the most out of things is pretty cool. The improvement of my FPS when doing more image/item heavy fights is really noticeable. So yeah, playing FF with my new TV and PS4 Pro is another reason I play!
I can play an mmo a long, long time. I put nearly six years into XI. You're also talking to a console gamer where playing a game over and over again is the norm. The repetitiveness you speak of I can take standing on my thumbs. My progress is sloooooow, but steady. I'm not kidding. I came with the 3.1 patch two years ago, and I only just recently got Bealsar's Wall into my Duty Finder. A big reason for this is because I do play content over and over again. I have three ARR relics and three HW relics to give you an example.
I keep playing for a lot of reasons. So many that it is difficult to encompass them all into a single word or even sentence. The easiest way for me to put it is I always have something to play for. I participate in so many of the game's activities: Crafting/Gathering/Fishing, Glamours, Housing, Hunts, Party Finder, Alliance Raids, MSQ, Gardening. Within these activities, each has goals, and each has a re-playability factor. If something starts running dry, there is always something else to do.
That is without mention that I also have to admit that there is definitely an emotional attachment to the game, my character, and some members of my FC. I am far more committed to this game than any other I have played. It's kind of intertwined into my life and holds a spot much like going to work, the gym, visiting family, etc. I literally can log on and do what I refer to as "chores" day in day out without progressing much of anything ^^
raids, content patches, working on other classes.
I guess you could class yourself as someone who would get a platinum trophy as you get 100% of the content out of the game you're playing?I can play an mmo a long, long time.
