Low/Mid game brings in new bodies to the game, but cannot keep people playing for very long. This is because the content is extremly limited in lasting value. Example the Limsa dungeon it is for rank 14-20 ppl, you can get higher then that in literally 1 day. Low/Mid content is only good for those levels, unless a cap is in place and the rewards are good throughout the game. In XI the COP content was capped and the ones with rewards where good for the whole game, this made that content worthwhile. Currently this is not the case with anything in XIV. Unfortuantly with people not wanting gear swaps and situational gear... I see no way of SE fixing this issue.

Endgame will not bring people into the game for the most part but it will keep those already playing. While those not at endgame could care less about endgame, those who no longer have an option to level up must have something to do or they will simply leave. Alts in this game are pointless and a waste of time and there is no reason to do low level content as a 50. XIV currently if you party is incredibly easy to get a capped class more so then most mmos.

If you are not capped on all classes in XIV you currently have a ton of stuff to do. IF you have everything capped you are limited to basically 3 things. Ifrit, Moogle, settlements. Nothing else is worth your time. That is why endgame is needed atm in my opinion more then anything else. SE is risking losing everyone that stuck with the game because they are bored. Negating of content and short lived content is hurting XIV bad atm in the endgame department.
