Maybe because this is an online game with certain social pressures and without a clear ending?

In an offline game you would play through to the end, and that would probably be it.
The story and journey to the end is what determines whether or not it was a good game.

With online RPGs there is no clear ending and there are other dynamics such as teamwork, peer pressure, and competition.

The race to end game
Do people who don't have everything at R50 somehow feel disadvantaged, and thus want to get there as soon as possible?

Perhaps because of this, everything until level cap becomes a chore -- causing them to dislike the long grind and seek faster ways to get through it, such as power leveling.

So now the journey is not important?
Many people have sprinted down the path, maybe because they saw it as a race rather than a journey?
Other people coming in see all the people ahead of them and try to catch up as quickly as possible.

Now people find themselves huddled at the end of the road with nowhere to go and little to do...
Thus the focus on and demand for more end game content. Without these extensions to the road, there is little else.

I can sympathize with people who have all classes at level cap and nothing to do.

Maybe when 2.0 comes out or when level cap is increased, some people can take the newly paved road as less of a race... and instead enjoy the journey again?
