Been asking for it since 2.0, not happening, they never gave a reason why. This idea comes up every other month or so.

Actually Yoshi gave a reason back in one of liveletter Q&A sometime ago.
He said "We didn't want to enforce an idea that you have to perform well in the game"
Sounds crazy, I know.
