I don't think this will ever happen for 2 things:

Many people will be upset look at that 'other thread' for details.
We do already have what we want & a friend can parse a PS4 players DPS.

They allow the mod because they realise if they would ban it they would loose 90% of the raiding community, if they would make an official meter then 90% of the 'non raiders' would leave.
In the end SE wants to retrain as much people as possible for their money.

Maybe a bit of exaggerated numbers but that's how I see it.

Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

No, they "allow" the mod because FFXIV has no client-side anti-cheat software.

As for why, it's (A) because the game was a hot mess at launch, and they never got around to implementing it because (B) it's a legal minefield, has enormous cost, and (C) doesn't actually stop the most harmful cheaters.

Anti-cheat protection has never worked. Cheaters will bypass it, it's only a matter of time. It's a complete waste of time, money, generally makes the game performance trash, and it aggravates players.

To be clear, it's not allowed. It's a 3rd party program, it is explicitly banned. Using ACT, mods, any 3rd party programs that interact with the game or the game's data in any way, is against the ToS.

Then tell me why Yoshida is OK with it as long as we don't harass people with it?
Then tell me that why Yoshida was WATCHING the livestreams of the top statics racing for worlds first ultimate in which ALL OF THEM shows DPS meters in their game screen. Yoshida even congratulated the ones that won.
Why didn't Yoshida just ban all those people?

    Tell me.

Extra note: it's not a cheat. Soon you people will say that I'm cheating because I use voice chat and I talk with my raiding buddies and we tell when bad stuff is coming.

Then this isn't any different than fflogs where you can have a friend upload and check it yourself afterwards. It'd still be useless for on the spot feedback for improvements and optimization mainly due to the lack of on screen encounter timer.

I want a parser so I can see in real time how I'm performing, not after the encounter.

I find this useless. People that wanna harass other now with ACT just do it after a wipe. People that wanna harass with your idea will just make it so we fight once go out check and kick people/harass as necessary. A tool is a tool how people use it is the problem or boom

I love the official forums, they tell you to use the search for thread about what you wanted to talk but when you use it they judge for necro a thread.

I've never harassed anybody but I've been harassed a million times with people that were not using ACT.

Another note, after a wipe in byako ex with a pug I explained tacs because I could clearly see they didn't know how to I was told I was an elitist prick and 'you don't pay my sub'.
Also, I told a healer once that there was no point in spamming cure when I was at full HP or 90% and would be a better idea to cast stone... man the harassment she gave me. I didn't wanted to live at that moment.
And I said nothing about DPS, just that I might have been a better idea to cast stone instead of spamming cure at full HP.

I haven't seen people getting harassed by ACT a lot, I've even never personally witnessed it.

You don't need a tool to harras, without ACT there will just be as much harassment as with it.

I don't use the function myself...but duty recorder STILL only works for Byakko Ex? What was the point of implementing it then? Was it just a test to see how players would use it? To see if were would 'harass' each other over it?

I mean, don't get me wrong, I would love having an official real-time, but it's obvious that it will never happen. But I dunno...I thought maybe an after-instance log would be a decent alternative. I don't tend to have a parse option available whenever I go into relevant content, and SSS isn't really all that accurate about progress either.

A sad truth is that some players are going to get harassed no matter what tools are/are not available. I won't deny that it doesn't happen, because it does. I've actually recently been kicked from a group for a similar reason. It just happens. I just feel like the problem is the person(s) who are being jerks, not the tools itself.

Any kind of personal parser is a waste of time, not a compromise. Seeing only your own numbers in a vacuum is kind of pointless, especially if you're only seeing them after the instance is over. If we're to receive an official parser, it needs to be a proper real-time one that shows everyone present. SE needs to stop trying to spare the feelings of sandbags and develop a parser of their own or at least "legalize" existing ones like ACT (though having an in-house parser means consoles get in on the action too).

I used to joke/troll with my friends that enmity guage is a parser.
Aka I'm 2nd in list after tank so i do most DPS. Hence Diversion is a DPS loss.

Joking aside, I'd welcome a in-house parser but that will never happen.
