Replacements for Typal Damage (De)buffs like Disembowel, Storm's Eye, etc.

    1. Do you think the current implementation of typal damage debuffs, such as Disembowel, Storm's Eye, Shadow Fang, Yukikaze, and Dragon Kick, are flawed in some way? If so, which and how?
    2. How would you adjust or replace these flaws?
    3. (Extra) What should be the ideal goal of such debuffs?

Weapon dmg should just get removed they only promote arbitrary optimal party comp.

To some extent even dmg type (magical/physical) should be removed too as, again, the somewhat incite you to stack one type of dmg. (SMN and RDM for instance suffer from that)

    1. Heavily flawed. They don't impact gameplay in the least and are primarily brought by DPS classes. These leads to those bringing it being balanced around having it, and those that do not being balanced without it, and causes problems in the current state of the game.

    2. Get rid of them all, and add an effect to Threat combo finshers. "Shatter: Increases damage the target takes by 3%. Separate sources of Shatter stack, up to 3 times."

    3. They should serve two functions. Providing meaningful damage contribution to tanks and cementing Focus Fire targets.

I used to be rather torn on them, but I lean towards scrapping them these days. If they are kept I'd like them streamlined into just physical/magic damage types and the 100% up-time aspect removed.

I have no problem with the idea of damage type buffs/debuffs in general, though I do think they're kind of pointless in today's game. My biggest problem with them is the way they're implemented. If you're going to give them to than many jobs with near 100% up time, why not just get rid of them altogether and buff everyone to compensate? Everyone wins. What's the downside?

Personally I think buffs should be something that make you feel powerful when you have them, not weak when you don't. That's part of the reason I'm not a big fan of maintenance buffs in general. I'd rather have a short term buff that makes me feel like a god every few minutes (Summon Bahamut) instead of a maintenance buff that makes me feel like crap when I lose it (Enochian.)

It definitely needs to be gone. Look what's happening between DRG,MCH and BRD because of it.
Just make it a general physical/magical debuff. Or if they really want to be difficult, make them a melee, ranged, caster specific debuff.
