    Other Adventurers

Ok so we know that other players can be our character's adventure friends and that's who npcs tell us to gather. That's not what I'm confused by and want to know if there is an answer to. Going back to the first three dungeons we see other groups get sent to them when we're in that part of the msq. Now we know the fate of two of those groups and outside of Sastasha there are two more groups that have pre and post dungeon clear text bubbles. We get the credit for all three places, but we also don't see any of the other groups. So how did one group die and Edda's group lose their tank? Did they take a different route or something? Also is there a reason why we don't see npc adventures anymore?

Generally speaking there's very little reason for other adventurers to be going through almost any of the dungeons in HW/SB other than us.
I'm not gonna list them all out, but almost every dungeon is either storyline moment specific such as the Vault, Aery, Bardams mettle, Doma castle etc. Or just incredibly dangerous, Sastasha's one thing but I don't imagine there are a ton of npc's strong enough to explore deep into the ruins of Amdapor or the Gubal library.

A lot of dungeons after are spesifically requested to us to go into, so having no other group of adventurers around is understandable. There are some exceptions like Wanderer Palace and Sastasha Hard Mode, but mainly the purpose of showing other adventurers is to show the risk and dangers of the profession.

I recently went through these texts on an alt. So the dungeons before ifirit are just adventurer guild leaders posting the dungeons for anyone to claim where most things after I given to us from the scions or someone specifically with our skills or experience. Seeing as the first 3 dungeons are too much for the average npc adventurer I'm sure they stick to doing leve quests or smaller dungeons we can't be bothered with.

Yet in HW and SB people will say oh you're one of those adventures I've heard of. Do they only hear about us and our friends then? Or are the only capable adventures the 7-23 we drag to 8 and 24 mans just a nod to other people's characters? That and it feels like even the few npc adventures aren't lazy or mean. Like no one greets us in a way that comes off in a "you better not be like the last 3 I asked help from" kind of way.

I think that it can be assumed that there are other NPC adventurers around at every stage of the game, doing odd jobs and exploring dungeons (likely not the same dungeons we do) and whatnot. Our paths don't usually intersect with theirs, and they serve only to prop up "Adventuring" as a well-known career option - a career at which our character happens to excel. We're the best of the best, so it's not unexpected that NPCs may have run into other adventurers that don't measure up to our awesomeness, and prejudge us based on those bad experiences.

There are, of course, places where adventurers are not welcome; Ishgard, for example is isolationist and kept all foreigners out (including adventurers). We were a special exception. I don't believe that any of the NPCs in Ishgard complained about such-and-such adventurers they met.

I really liked seeing signs of other NPC adventurers attempting to conquer the same Realm Reborn main story content as the main player, it was a nice way to tie in the whole 'adventurer' feel.

Despite the different themes and story-lines of Heavensward and Stormblood I too would like to see at least a few more examples of high level adventurers that have made it far as us.

Maybe even slowly introduce a rival NPC adventurer group that eventually becomes a sideline antagonist, then full on dungeon boss wih appropriate mechanics. I love a good origin story that ends in a battle between two old friends turned enemies.

Yes...I would enjoy the shit out of that shit.

I miss the feal of "we beat everyone other group sent in" (IE: got to end boss 1st & won)... reminds me of how much I loved that 1 mission in the Mass Effect 3 Cidadel DLC, ur "Team" takes 1 set path & u get to see the other 2 teams fighting ppl as u go along, u can also help... wait that would be a fun mechanic while fighting trash mobs (Tank & healer hold/kill light easy trash mobs while DPS man cannons to "help" NPC's fight stuff, I mean I hate "NPC guard duty" but it would at lest be semi-new)

What some see as "distracted" is really "fathoming the unfathomable" - last words from an Ul'dahn Mercurial Chemister at the battle of Carteneau

Avare (Edda's fiance) died because he was too cocky and pig-headed as a tank (he would rush ahead with early pulls out of range of Edda's Cure spells, and ended up being decapitated by a monster, which the rest of his party just blamed poor Edda the healer for - sound familiar? It's a take-that against players being too sure of themselves and blaming each other when things go pear-shaped).

As for the other two 'npc groups' you met there, one group later perished in Tam-Tara Deepcroft (ironically you can actually encounter them in Palace of the Dead - evidently their souls have not found rest as a result) where as the other, a two-person partnership of two elezen adventurers (an elderly male GLA and his younger female ARC friend), actually end up retiring from adventuring outside Copperbell Mines (unfortunately their names elude me I'm sorry).

Much later they return when they are recruited for the Steps of Faith battle, along with a number of other adventurers (ironically, most of these npcs that appear in the cutscenes after this fight, were originally player characters, they were winners of a competition SE ran a few years ago where your character could be added in a story cutscene as a npc. ), and end up joining the Scions later in Heavensward, where they can be found in the Rising Stones.

Adventurer NPCs do show up throughout the story - the Waking Sands (and later the Rising Stones) are full of them (because the Scions recruited mostly adventurers into their ranks, whether they have the Echo or not - most do not). Also it should go without saying that most of the NPC patrons of the three Adventurer's Guilds are adventurers, naturally.

And a final footnote to Edda and Avare is when you first unlock Sastasha HM, fittingly there is another NPC party there outside the entrance which are basically a pallette swap of Edda's old party, right down to their classes and gear (male highlander hyur GLA in red, rather than blue, armour, female woodwight elezen ARC, female midlander hyur CNJ and plainsfolk lalafell male THM), and they even remark how things seem familar for some reason and that he has a bad feeling about this mission, that he hopes he "doesn't lose his head." Tempting fate me thinks.

So npc adventurers do show up throughout the game, you just have to keep your eyes open and really read the dialogue and take note of your surroundings.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the HW armorer quests, as that was all about creating armor for an adventuring party. You help them out after they save another member of the armorer's guild who almost gets killed by a rat while learning to adventure.

My question though was more in the SB carpenter quests, how am I building furniture for an NPC adventurer in Lavender Beds? He'd better be in the Lilly Hills apartments.
