Might have already been mentioned in this thread. Yoshida mentioned in a LLP that they do plan to update FFXIV's graphics to avoid looking outdated. However, this is not slated for 5.0.The PS3 is no longer supported I think so there's no need to worry about performance on that system. This game is beautiful even without the HQ textures but I could imagine how much better it would be with it. I'd gladly shell $10 on the mog station for this. At the very least please let us toggle distant textures to the highest quality textures currently available because the distant textures look like they are from 2002.
I know this thread will get nowhere but maybe the echo will be heard somewhere.
I would honestly rather them forego adding any new races or new jobs to overhaul the existing character models and textures.
I really don't see the problem, the graphics in this game are fine, I'd rather they focus on gameplay than graphics.
There was an interview with Yoshida recently that included this topic.
Some people also find the graphical side as content. Its pretty crap that they dont even attempt to add or update anything. Even new character creation options. But they have the time and assets for a mobile app, cool.
I was actually going to mention this but I figure it would be a lost cause. They remastered both the graphics and the audio. Now there are some issues with the new graphics (lol) but I think they will fix them with a couple updates. As much as that game is bashed they still updated there already amazing graphics. But we cant even get decent textures....The game is most likely too big to remaster just like FFXI.
Graphics isn't everything anyways.
Look at Black Desert Online, they just released their remaster this week and it's barely 3 years old. It looks like a PS6 game now o.o. It's too bad it's still the same grindfest xD.
Regardless of whether anyone agrees or not with the need for a graphics update, I think we can all agree that keeping it behind a paywall would be a terrible idea.
Saying you'll pay extra for it won't change SE's mind. I doubt funding is an issue. The money is there. It's much more likely that SE don't consider it a priority, and I'm inclined to agree. I would far prefer more playable content than a graphics update. I won't complain if we get it but if the choice is one or the other, I'd rather actual content.
And I think putting a graphics update as a purchasable item in the Mog Station would be PR suicide.
In blade and soul there is 0 difference if you wanna play with standard 1080 resolution or 4k. Fps not move anywhere. I would say ff14 have better graphics than blade and soul.
I'm glad Yoshi-P got rid of all those hopes and dreams of updating character creation, HD textures, and any other graphical updates. At least we'll know to expect nothing now.
