Honestly, it sounds to me like OP looked up FFLogs or some other DPS ranking thread and said "Oh BLM has the best deeps, that's what I want". Now, they are struggling with the job and it's functions and, of course, that's the job's fault; not theirs. Cause, you know, GOD FORBID, they just aren't good at something!

Yeah... this is becoming abundantly clear....

OP, if by some strange chance you aren't actually trolling, this is a job that requires practice. The difference between a bad blm and good blm, or even average to good, is a much bigger performance gap than other jobs. This job's challenge is figuring out how to manage uptime, and that's fun for people who actually play blm.

Blm is the only true "caster" dps in this game, and some people want that.

If you can't handle the uniqueness of this playstyle, there are other ranged options that are easier to pick up. Bard and rdm tend to have a much more forgiving skill floor to start with. Smn has a lot to learn about with optimization, but is far more mobile and small mistakes aren't as damaging as they are to a blm. Mch... I can't speak much about. Don't mch if don't have the ping for wildfire I guess.

YoshiP has said in interviews that BLM is meant to be a complex job. It's the one he plays and he said specifically he doesn't want it overly simplified. And that's fine. We have lots of jobs specifically so we can have different play styles and different levels of complexity. BLM is on the higher end.

If the job play style doesn't line up with your play style, that's fine. Just play something else. But it doesn't mean BLM sucks. They're also helping it movement wise next patch, so there's that.

I'm also not sure why this thread has gotten so hostile. It's just an opinion of a job. No need to bring personalities or anything else into it.

Can you point to the official line that describes the BLM as a 'turret job'?

The simple fact that the casting times of multiple rotation staple Black Mage spells are longer than the GCD when other jobs have at most one or two occasional abilities like this, if even any.
