    Training dummy for practicing rotations?

That also shows your damage done.

    Is there something like that?

If not, how do you practice new jobs/rotations?

Hit a training dummy, look at the damage log in the chat window. That's your recording of damage done to practice rotations with. That's the only ingame thing there is as far as I am aware.

If youre high enough to use them, there are special practice dummies outside idyllshire(lvl 60) and rhalgrs(lvl 70). These are timed and set to HP values appropriate to specific raid/extreme fights. You talk to an NPC(after doing the quest) and choose the enemy you want to "practice" against, he puts you in front of the proper dummy(it just stands there, so you arent practicing any mechanics), you have a certain length of time to set up pre-buffs and whatnot, then the timer starts when you engage. If youre trying to calculate DPS, a quick google search can find you a calculator(you put in the fight, your class, and the timer info and it gives you an answer). If youre just trying to get better(and the specific number doesnt mean much to you), trying the same fight repeatedly and getting better times(of if your damage isnt enough to clear the dummy, then you can track progress via how low you get it each time until you can clear it) on it would indicate improvement.

With a brand new class, im not concerned about specific damage. I need to get a feel for and understand the flow of the rotation before i worry about that. So looking up the proper rotation, and just practicing for a while on any old training dummy can help to get that feeling. Then once i think i know what im doing, thats when i can start working with actual numbers. While i dont parse(i dont trust any add ons, not even something innocuous like ACT), i have a few friends that do and are willing to help if i ask.
