There's probably a lore reason why we can use magicite in there but not outside of there. The best thing they can do about SMN is adding more transformations like demi bahamut for future expansions.

On a serious note, the guy at the start kinda tells you you the reason, however I would say that the effect of the magicite kinda reminds me of the auracite in a way.
