Trailer did what it's supposed to do: make you ask questions and wonder what's happening, which then makes you want to play the game to get the answers and see how it all plays out.

The old trailers made me want to play the game just fine... That epic music starting up with Patch 3.3's trailer? Nidhogg's voice over? The battle on the bridge? Yeah, I knew exactly what was going on. I had no questions. I want to get there IMMEDIATELY. Most of the patch trailers had that effect.
The old trailers didn't make you want to play because you had questions, they made you want to play because they laid everything out in an epic, comprehensive way that was easy to understand and let you know EXACTLY where to go and what to do to start what you wanted to.
Your point being? Nothing was said against the old trailers concerning their intended purpose to begin with.
So basically, you like to be spoon fed the beginning, middle and ending of a story to make you play it? Well that's good for you... but not everyone feels that way, and this trailer isn't ineffective in its purpose just because they didn't decide to go the kind of route you like. The old trailers didn't make you want to play because you had questions, they made you want to play because they laid everything out in an epic, comprehensive way that was easy to understand and let you know EXACTLY where to go and what to do to start what you wanted to.
It's almost like everyone has different preferences. No need to try and make it seem like such a negative. This trailer, to me, feels like a jumbled mess which focuses mainly on the MSQ, which I couldn't give two figs about. I don't tend to follow the live letters, and if this is all I had to go on, I would be quite meh about the whole thing as nothing about it speaks to my interests in game.So basically, you like to be spoon fed the beginning, middle and ending of a story to make you play it? Focusing more on the MSQ makes sense because that's a key selling point of this game. Besides, you don't need the trailer to showcase everything because SE uses other avenues (Lodestone, Patch Website) to display additional information on. Players relying on a single trailer as a main source of information in this day and age is silly. It's almost like everyone has different preferences. Exactly. Someone gets it.

I swear if we don't get to do anything to Ashai and he gets away, I will be extremely disappointed. I hate having the villains flee, or off themselves before we even get a chance to do anything.

I agree. But I also agree that the new style does what it needs to do in terms of hype. But man were yhe old ones great...

While I wasn't a huge fan of these shorter trailers when they introduced them in 4.1, I will say that they have improved with each patch. So much so that I actually preferred 4.3 over quite a lot of older trailers. So I think they should keep this style up for the time being.

I'm fine with the trailers as they are. A lot of the time in the HW patches there were parts of the trailers dedicated to glamour items and stuff and it kinda takes away from the tone they are going for.
Four mins is fine. Get to the point and give me the important stuff, cut out the fat, give me a tease, that's all I need.
