Like a normal video game trailer?
I'm with you. I prefer when they would highest each major update separately. I would think the old style is safer bet for drawing people in as it touches on many of the new aspects - not just one or two things that people may not care that much about.

I hate that they mix MSQ stuff in with everything else so it's hard to tell what is MSQ and what isn't. I much prefer the older style as well, where they had everything separate. Last patch I kept expecting to see Krile in the MSQ but it turned out she was in the trailer because of Eureka, for example. If they'd had the MSQ part and the Eureka part separate (like they used to do) then I feel like it would have been less confusing.

I like the new layout for the trailer. I personally hope they don't change it. I am so tired of the old layout, the 4.x patch trailers have felt so much more exciting to me and the editing done in them is really good compared to the previous layout. It feels more like a game trailer for something new and not a slide of new content like the old layout.
How can you not tell what's not MSQ and what is MSQ? If you have been playing this game then you would know what characters are apart of the MSQ and those that are in Return to Ivalice so I don't see how that is an issue. Also you mention Krile but if you actually look at the trailer you would know it's Eureka because they said before (part 1 live letter) they created new zones for it and we rarely get new zones for MSQ in .x patches (never). We knew Krile wouldn't be in 24man so that only leaves Eureka.I hate that they mix MSQ stuff in with everything else so it's hard to tell what is MSQ and what isn't. The only one we got recently was Doma but that was already there from 4.0 just built up. If you just think about it a little you figure out what is the MSQ and what isn't by looking at the environment and characters and does it match up with what's currently happening in the story.
I can clearly identify what is being shown in this trailer. I don't need to be shown name in the corner + story scene + fight scene for each piece of content to understand what is being shown.
Trailers are supposed to snappy and fast to get you hyped. The music used for the trailer was perfect, the pacing was well done and the editing was great as well. Go look at any game trailer before the release and you will see they do quick edits with good music to go long it to get people excited.

There's overlap where MSQ characters are in other quests. I'm sure you're right, maybe I just didn't pay enough attention. Regardless, I still prefer the older style of trailers, and I'm welcome to that opinion.![]()

That is correct there is a overlap for MSQ in other quests. I'm not saying you can't like the older ones. To put it simply.. the older ones basically saying "this is housing, this is 24man, this is msq" etc via the corner so you could easily connect it. The new trailers are basically made where those that are already playing should be able to see that "this is msq, this is 24 man" and such while a new player would just look at it and wonder what is going on but still think it looks cool. Also a common complaint for ffxiv is the similar content cycle each release and the old layout highlights this while the new one somewhat covers it up well.
Yeah and I didn't think that was MSQ. Do you know why? There is currently no reason for Krile to be in the MSQ right now. They could have used her but they wouldn't be much point because there wasn't a need for her. With that idea in my head that only leads to Eureka also if you look at the 4.2 trailer right after the scene with Krile and the new character it shows Eureka... and we saw Eureka in the previous live letter via images...so you can easily make the connection, so you just need to pay attention.Remember the 4.2 Trailer with Krile meeting another Lalafell? I wasn't sure if it was MSQ or something else. Turns out it wasn't MSQ at all, but for a while I was flying all over the place and looking things up, trying to figure out why I had missed part of the MSQ in 4.2.

Precisely. It also didn't show any fluff like flowerpots, new furnishing, new gear and hairstyles (do those really need a segment in a trailer?) and better yet... the Namazu weren't in the trailer at all. I haaaaaaaate those things.

I didn't see the images from the live letter, so I can't very well make that connection. For all I knew Krile was heading somewhere to help with something. Seemed as likely she was heading to Doma to try and fix Yotsuyu as anything else.Yeah and I didn't think that was MSQ. Do you know why?
