    Glitch with enemies appearing and disappearing

    I had an odd visual glitch last night (video uploaded here) where I noticed that some enemies in the area were appearing and disappearing.

    I was fighting mudpuppies in the river at Boulder Downs and noticed two "rimy biasts" appear close by - I think they are meant to be levequest enemies? (A FATE started close by at the same time, but it involves fighting energy sprites, not biasts.) Anyway I ignored them and kept going with the mudpuppies, but realised that the biasts were fading in and out of existence the whole time.

    I didn't try to engage with them, but was intending to go over and investigate once I'd defeated the last of the mudpuppies - but as soon as I was out of 'combat mode' they vanished entirely and didn't appear again.

    Has anyone else seen this happen, or know what was going on?

    This happens all the time in Eureka but you're not really in a zone where that sort of thing should happen e.e sounds like the priorities of what gets rendered are whack so instead of the far enemies, the nearby ones go poof.

    But don't the ones in Eureka still attack you even when you can't see them? These ones were completely gone. They had 'aggressive enemy' icons so should have attacked me if they were actually still there, right?

    Biasts shouldn't be appearing in the river there anyway, as far as I'm aware, and the normal ones in the area are just plain "biasts".

    It's a MSQ "The Things We Do For Tea." Odds are you were witnessing bots collecting the objective and teleporting away before the mobs could even attempt to locate them underground.

    Yeah, that's definitely a botting situation happening there. If you look at your battle tab, you might see combat messages about it with the botter's names in it. It's hard to say, since they're spawning and despawning so quickly, they might not get enough time to initiate any attacks.

    Ah, that would explain a lot! I’ve just gotten to the post-ARR quests with that character, I might have recognised it if I got a little further.

    Although, they were just vanishing rather than having a ‘dying’ animation - if they get defeated before they’ve fully loaded in, could it skip that animation?

    They're not being defeated I think, just the bots are teleporting away after getting the quest item which just causes them to despawn.

    Ah, okay. So - spawning, not seeing a target because the bot’s already gone, and despawning. I didn’t know they’d do that (since no real player is going to do that to see it happen) but it makes sense.

    For any quest that where an objective flags as complete the moment you finish interacting with an object, you can just ignore any enemies that spawn.

    I do it rather regularly for the Vath/Vanu dailies.

    Never happens to me.

    I think you seen bots, I seen this happen in east shroud near the box's where the bee farmers are.
    They seem to be under the ground and the monsters target them and go underground I can't see names of bots to report so I just walk away.

    Its weird trust me, I even seen bots flying in the sky before in the rafters in gridania above the inn.
