Personally I don't see anything wrong with people modding. It is technically illegal, but SE won't do anything about it if you don't discuss it ingame/if it doesn't damage any part of the game itself.

Such a tolerant community, never mind it is modifying game files which is against the ToS, because you benefit from it or it doesn't directly affect you, its okay.
And to think you people think its okay to have child-like Lalafell running around without their kit on, disgusting.
The OP has every right to be deeply concerned and worried about this matter, now even more so after reading some of these reply's.
Not that it changes anything but OP's character was originally an Au Ra. They just made an alt and swapped their forum character to it out of... Shame? Or something?Such a tolerant community, never mind it is modifying game files which is against the ToS, because you benefit from it or it doesn't directly affect you, its okay.

Can't speak for OP, but I've noticed quite often that people will use your avatar against you in a conversation. In this thread, we were graced with the following:
I've personally had people try to use my miqo'te against me, and I've seen female avatars dismissed when discussing things that apply to male characters. On one hand, I don't mind when people do this as it points out clearly who I shouldn't waste my time on, but it's still annoying and a cheap attempt to discredit someone.
Another reason could be concern of additional trolls hunting them down on the server. While I doubt most people would do it, there are always the immature ones skirting around.
It’s a game. No one is looking at your irl chest. You do know this game is make believe and that you are not your avatar right?
Basically the point of this post is to create an awareness that these mods do exist. Players are using them in droves and irresponsibly. And chances are, someone somewhere can see you naked and definitely is looking! I know the most common is using small clothes or New Emperor's top and bottom are huge for showing off your privates with these mods. And just about every skirt has the underwear removed on them.
SE can something please be done about this? Feels like my peers around me have X-Ray eyes and are always starring at my chest.
Someone else explained it earlier. If it was something specifically installed that ran with the game, I'm pretty sure SE could detect that. What these mods do is to essentially overwrite existing files in the game's directory to alter the appearances. My guess is this would allow someone to, say, make the racial starting gear get replaced with mods that give men ripped/hairy chests, pants that give them genitalia, mods that remove the bra from female chests and give them more definition, remove the undies from their pants to again add definition...
So, theoretically, if I understand it right, someone COULD mod the starter gear to look like stuff off the Mogstation since all the files are there. Or the latest raid gear.
I think it's more like an editing program than a mod. That's my guess.
I just don't see the point in it since even if you mod it so racial starting gear looks like the latest raiding stuff, everyone else still see's you as a scrub in starting gear.
My thing is, Tumblr is usually so quick to NAME and SHAME anyone who is even ever so SLIGHTLY problematique... So.. what gives here...? I follow all the right drama-people. I haven't seen one lick of proof of this stuff actually happening. My best guess is someone's acquaintance did the weird screenshot thing, thinking it was funny, and the victim didn't want to ruin this near-stranger's reputation because they're too nice to do that I guess. Then things got crazy real fast once they started talking about it... but even still. I don't get it. I've seen people raked across the Tumblr callout culture coals for FAR FAR LESS than this stuff. Like if you're gonna talk about it and spread fear/misinformation why not use your proof against this horrible person?? I don't get it. Something just doesn't quite add up.
I get not everyone wants drama, I get it. But it's like.... how are we to know this even happened. No proof with even blurred names?? Like????????????
And here's the thing if you're on Balmung no matter what your character looks like, if you're in the Quicksand long enough you're gonna get a creepy tell. You're just going to. I can't speak for Mateus but on Balmung that's just how it is if you hang out in the main city of Ul'dah anyways. I'm not even safe as a semi-ugly elezen man. It has literally happened to me more than once. I see this modded screencap thing in the same light I see regular everyday sexual harassment on Balmung. Don't be quiet about it. Don't let people get away with it. Post the proof and let the masses sort it out.
That's just the risk you run when engaging in activities not officially allowed. Fly under the radar, or have the whole thing crash and burn because some few took it too far and got too much attention.
To echo an earlier post, that's just the way it is.
