I am much the same way. I just ignore people that are twats and go about my business. I’m aware people mod, and if they see my character naked with...questionable mods...well it doesn’t really matter to me. I see her as I see her, and that’s that.
For me, it’s always if you have something that you are legitimately concerned about, why are you going back and deleting posts? It’s much like retracting your statements in my view.I will agree that the lack of concrete evidence(yes the one I quoted earlier can be seen as harassment, or someone who saw this thread and decided to poke fun – which again, could be seen as harassment), and the deleting of posts doesn’t provide them much credibility.
Sadly, you are right. It’s an unrelated topic, but on my last day of class, one of my classes had a debate about a lot of the school marches that are going on to right now with regards to school shootings, and about how it’s causing unnecessary fear-mongering because teenagers are far more likely to die in a car accident caused by either texting while driving or driving while under the influence than they are to die by a school shooting. Yet, the fear-mongering (causes primarily by media, I’m sure) makes it seem like it’s a common occurrence for people to just bring a gun to school willy-nilly. That topic and this one are completely unrelated, but the inherent concept of fear-mongering garnering the most results is the same.Unfortunately, the way the world works a good 80% of the time, fear mongering tends to get the most(not always best) results.
I can understand where you’re coming from, but the comment Tridus quoted was entirely uncalled for. Stereotyped or not, nothing excuses this mindset of “you’re asking for it by looking like that”. I dislike stereotypes, even though I know they exist for a reason; I just try not to use them as judgments of individuals—for example, I play almost exclusively Miqo’te, and my sole reason for choosing it over Hyur was because I love cats, and the character creator options for Miqo’te suited my main (Hyomin) more than the Hyur ones; I don’t play Miqo’te because I’m a “furry” or a “G.I.R.L.” (I actually am female in real life) or whatever other stereotypes exist out there for female Miqo.
I disagree with the OP on many grounds, but that comment was unnecessary. I won’t deny that some people need to grow thicker skins, but there are just some things that are down-right awful to say and that should never even be said in the first place. But, to be honest, the comment itself speaks volumes for the type of person the poster is rather than the OP (at least with regards to stereotypes).
