TLR- Don’t stress about things you cannot control.
Christ, the FFXIV community is so PASS-backwards sometimes. Other games have had mods like this for years and they don't have this kind of whinging.
And?
What abuse is being shown here? No offense, but this actually adds credence to people who claim you're being too sensitive. The person is simply saying if SE bans mods, people who are jerks will still be jerks. And she isn't wrong. Look at parsers. More often than not, it's the... lesser skilled players complaining about low DPS and berating everyone.
I don't know, I think I am handling myself pretty well the way I keep being disrespected and attacked and called "insensitive" on this thread. The bottom line is, I called the mod community out on the forums and they are not happy about it. And they are free to not be happy about it, but I don't deserve the treatment I am getting. I have already blocked and reported 3 different people in-game for trying to have a "chat" with me about why I am wrong for making this thread. And?

One guy even insisted and demanded that I delete all my forum posts and apologize to the entire community for trying to take away their mods.

Disclaimer: I do not endorse, support or promote any sort of illicit activity for Final Fantasy XIV and my words are only of those based on research I've done solely to comment on this thread. I'm not liable for other user(s) breaking the ToS and is their sole responsibility to follow the agreement that they agreed to when creating their Square Enix account.
Now that's out of the way I want to discuss some thing that I've found from these so called "Modding servers" I do also want to point out I've not participated in modding myself but rather look into how said things are used and to gather my own research.
Now your main argument is that user(s) can see your character naked, now whilst this is possible from first glance you really have to look into the whole "modding" as a whole, it's an offence against the ToS that users agreed to and can result in your account being revoked of access to the game (ban / suspensions), I've seen several user(s) who've been reported for advertising it in-game & on social media and I agree with the stance that SE themselves are taking.
Now in regards to "my characters can be seen naked is wrong!" Well it's quite simple, avoid revealing outfits that are commonly modded (I mean on one of the servers I found there was literally a whole list of what not to wear), walking around in highly populated areas wearing nothing at all & if user(s) are sending you tells of images where they're clearly broken the ToS, report them there and then. Don't argue with the user(s), Don't start harassing them back, just file a report and a GM will deal with it. If you're arguing with the user(s) it'll also look bad on yourself and could possibly lead yourself into a heap of trouble too.
Do I support modifying XIV Files? No.
Do I want to modify my in-game files? No.
thing is until Square Enix put in a sort of Anti-tamper mechanism into the game, nothing will be done unless user(s) are caught red handed sending images of them breaking the ToS through in-game tells or by promoting websites / social media links (twitter for example) where they're hosting images / files that break the ToS of the game and can be linked back to them in-game.
One good example was that a user on Aether had their twitter handle in their search information recently and when people went to their twitter it had their character information & had 1000s of images of them clearly violating the ToS. GMs contacted said user and took action against them.
I do not support anyone who breaks the Terms of Service.
If someone is harassing you that person should be punished, not the mods, if the person really wants to harass you even if SE were able to block mods (what I highly doubt to be possible) what prevents that person to make a character exactly like you on character creation, put it naked in a thousand of different poses and doing nasty stuff and post all over the internet saying its you? they don't need mods for it, they could do it on a PS4 all within the game itself.
So my knowledge from the nude mod comes from when I was still an Au Ra. I had a FC mate who was always taking pictures of me, quite a lot of my arse, and he'd send them every so often. He mentioned that he uses the nude mode, and was hoping that he'd get a chance for some naked screenshots of my char. Gotta say, that weirded me out a tiny bit. He also mentioned a couple of the clothing items he had set to show as the nude skin, and so I started avoiding those with my glamours.
I can see both sides of this. I don't mind the mod being out there, I personally just don't really want to know when I'm the target of the mod. I'm married and not looking to pick up any ERP buddies in game. I've been on the receiving end of someone getting off to my character, and then telling me about it, and it's just...strange.
I think with this mod it's just best to know your audience. If the other person is totally cool with it, and wants to play along, have fun! If the other party is not so fond of it, just keep it to yourself.

hm...
Correction, some random people in a discord of hudreds are mad. Please stop generalizing everyone because of a few asshats. They shouldn't be contacting you directly, though if it's a civil discourse I see no harm in hearing them out. Regardless, you're garnering attention based on presenting a strong opposition to something which negatively impacts other people. You would undoubtedly get a similarly negative response demanding SE do something about FFlogs and parsers.I don't know, I think I am handling myself pretty well the way I keep being disrespected and attacked and called "insensitive" on this thread. The bottom line is, I called the mod community out on the forums and they are not happy about it. And they are free to not be happy about it, but I don't deserve the treatment I am getting. You have also, once again, demonstrated how inconsequential this whole "issue" is. You blacklisted three people who bothered you, thus they cannot contact you again. Why does SE did to do anything when the tools to stop harassment already exist and you just used them? Keep in mind, Blacklisting words the same way mods do in the sense those people can still chat, you simply aren't able to see it anymore.
Overly sensitive pls, I really can't stress enough that you are working yourself up about a matter that you can neither control nor are you realistically impacted by.
I do agree that SE should be keeping more of an eye on the modding scene to see if things need to be curbed a little (Granted, if the mention of bans earlier in the thread are correct, then maybe they are already on the case?). However, you aren't doing your point of view any favours in the manner with which you are putting it forward. Making and deleting posts from multiple accounts, crying foul the moment someone disagrees and doing the token 'I feel attacked' dance isn't a good look. I'm sorry if you find that offensive, there's just no way to butter it up. That's how it is.
Chocoferu really has the right of it in this case.
No free advertisement is bad advertisement, you are directly putting their community in the spotlight, a community that is very likely outside of SE's sphere of influence.
