Mod users in FFXIV are getting out of control

There is a team of clothing altering modders within the FFXIV community that are producing texture changes quite rampantly. Normally I wouldn't care since a lot of these are client side changes, but lately it's been getting out of hand and I feel something needs to be done about it.

While I don't have anything against mods personally, a lot of these outfit mods are making it so that my character can be seen completely naked on their side of the screen with nipples and all included! I feel like I am being seen nude without consent and I do not appreciate that! Players taking screen shots and using it for harassment, getting hit on in outfits that appear fully clothed on my end, I am entirely naked on theirs. I discovered a discord and website that had an impressively large selection that makes you naked in basically every major piece of glamour within the game. There are more NSFW mods than they contain SFW. Some things such as the Angel and Demon outfit being modded in under 24 hours of release! These guys work fast pumping out new things everyday apparently to the point I feel violated and unable to wear some of my favorite outfits in public anymore knowing that they show off my parts. Taking tells wherein someone saying I am cute with a grain of salt as they likely can see my behind without my knowledge of it as it follows up with requests for ERP.

Basically the point of this post is to create an awareness that these mods do exist. Players are using them in droves and irresponsibly. And chances are, someone somewhere can see you naked and definitely is looking! I know the most common is using small clothes or New Emperor's top and bottom are huge for showing off your privates with these mods. And just about every skirt has the underwear removed on them.

SE can something please be done about this? Feels like my peers around me have X-Ray eyes and are always starring at my chest.

Serious note: It's pixels... Why are you getting so defensive? I mean you are acting like people seeing your character naked = seeing you in real life naked which is just silly. I mean how can you even harass someone with that? I just don't get it. I don't get why people get so sensitive when it comes to a GAME... If it really bothers you just report the person and GMs can look into it.

Blacklist doesn't prevent them from posting these pictures on their Tumblr, Twitters, Instagrams and discord networks. It's a big deal when it becomes harassment.

How would they harass you with it?

I've been playing for such a long time and ran group content with so many people that I'm probably on a dozen of screenshots out there, let's say some of them uses this mod, why should I even care?

What's the issue? It's a game, it's pixels, one can just google for naked game characters, or just use a mod that removes underwear and go into create new character and you can see all races naked. So .. problem?

Are you actually being harassed by people? Are they actually posting lewd screenshots of your character online on their Twitters, Tumblrs, Instagram, etc.? If so, how are you aware of this? Did they tell you? Did they sent you a link to these pictures via /tell? Is any of this actually happening to you or someone you know, or are you just spreading fear?

You cannot control what other people do. If people really wanted to make lewd pictures of your character, they could always just use Photoshop. Are we to have that banned as well? Most modders mod so that they can enjoy the game; they don't use it as an avenue to purposely harass other people. Unless you are being purposely targeted and harassed, why do you care? Why get all up in arms about something that literally doesn't affect you?

Secondly, to all those saying it's not harassment and it's just pixels. Why would it be any different if someone posted an irl nude of me on their tumblr? Because it's digital it's suddenly acceptable and I should just get over it? Some of us do like to treat our characters as extensions of ourselves.

Apples to oranges. There is a huge difference between a virtual character that is not real and yourself. Someone posting a picture of your character modded to be naked is completely different than someone posting an actual picture of you naked in real life. Learn the difference: one is pixels and isn't real, the other is.


If people are actively sending you harassing tells and links to pictures or whatever, just report them and the GMs will deal with them. If they were saying lewd things in-game, easy enough to temp ban (or perma-ban if it's not the first offense) them right there; there's no need for third-party website screenshots. But don't start a crusade to punish everyone who mods because not everyone acts like those select few do. Many mod for their own enjoyment and don't care about what other people's toons look like on their screen: they do it for the sake of their own toon. I disagree with this "punish everyone because a few people were being twats" mentality.

You know what's worse than mods?? Photoshop!!! Can you imagine that they can make hundreds of naked characters with your character name on them and post them all over social media sites?? I don't know how you'll sleep at night now after knowing this.

Life is a lot easier if you stop worrying so much about things that don't affect you in the slightest.

For someone who seems to hate this stuff so much, you are awfully well informed on it and have obviously spent quite some time looking into it, might I recommend a step backwards for the sake of your sanity?

Why wouldn't I look into it? If I hate it so much I should investigate it so I know what I am talking about before I make uneducated posts on the forums.

because the person on tumbler wouldn't be able to get nudes of you unless you put them somewhere they could see them or give them to them.

second your comparison is off as its the equivalent of them photo shopping your face on someone else's face.
