Graphical mods are a problem...let me just stop you there. There's dozens of graphical mods that improve the overall quality of the game which in turn improves the quality for tho who play and use the mod. Sure there are 2 or 3 mods that add nudity, but then again. It's pixels on a screen, it's not your real self. You are not being stalked and seen naked in real life, it doesn't matter.Of course doing so doesn't earn any friends because "You're ruining their fun" by taking the moral high ground and showing them a mirror where they're ugly. People break rules because they know the rules are not enforced. That is different from breaking rules because the rules are unjust (Eg rules made to prevent peaceful protest, journalism or "bedroom behavior".) Who really cares about what you do in your own private space as long as you don't bring someone else into it against their will.
And that is why graphical mods and third party tools are a problem, it breaks rules set by the software developer to ensure people play nice and fairly, they affect others because no consent is needed to operate them, and yet the very nature of the MMO game requires consent at all times. People go "oh it's only client sided", but it's not the second you post anything online that is a result of those mods or tools.
People going "it's only pixels" are the same people who complain about their identity being stolen after oversharing on facebook. Yeah, it's only pixels when you're not the victim.
That game avatar might be an extension of someone's personality, but people do put an important attachment on that identity, and if someone starts posting "Lala's gone Loli" pics using players who did not consent to it, then that person is no different than the perv who takes upskirt shots at the mall using the same logic of "if you don't know it exists, then it doesn't exist."
I've been the "victim" of people posting naked pictures of my characters on a variety of games, the first one was i think about 5 years ago, i'm still trying to find a reason to care, it's probably gonna take me my lifetime to figure it out, and i still won't find a reason to care. You can't compare your character being seen naked somewhere to identity theft, how are these two even related?
One is considered a felony in many countries and is punishable with the felon paying at least $1.000 in fines and jail time, the other is your feelings being offended.
If anything people taking naked pictures of my character is pretty flattering, i made my character so well that it's worth it to them to do that.
Oh and tell me more how taking pictures of naked characters is the same as taking pictures of girls underwear without consent in PUBLIC of all places? One is considered a crime and can be punished with a fine and also jail time, the other is your feelings. Guess which one the law cares about. Quit making these ridiculous comparisons. They are in no way, shape or form related.
Punishing all people who use mods simply because someones feelings gets offended because of 1 or 2 nude mods exist is selfish and outright ignorant. It's the same as me coming on these forums, making a post saying that one of the graphic options is offensive and triggers my feelings therefore no one should use it and it should be removed and banned. Do you see how stupid that sounds?

I take it you never heard of podophilia.
You must be new here. Every time something new is added to the game someone pops up and demands it be removed. Go back and check what happened to DRK's original glow.
The "it's only pixels argument" is "I was only joking" for image theft. So if an image is only pixels, then you won't mind if someone raids your facebook and pretends to be you. It's only pixels, those aren't you, they're just ones and zeros.
No, because that would be identity theft. You own your body and what it’s used for (which is why deep fake is banned), you don’t own your FFXIV avatar — Square does.

So what. The pro-mods side of the argument doesn't care. It's only pixels, they won't mind if fakes exist of themselves in explicit situations outside their control.

Are you trolling right now Kisai? I hope you are cause this is getting ridiculous....
An image of yourself in real life on a computer is still an image of a real person.
Keyword: REAL
adjective
1.
true; not merely ostensible, nominal, or apparent:
2.
existing or occurring as fact; actual rather than imaginary, ideal, or fictitious:
3.
being an actual thing; having objective existence; not imaginary
A photograph of a human being put on a computer and into the world wide web is still a image of a real person who exists in reality.
When people say something is "just pixels" it is a describer of something that was created with a computer and has no real existence in reality.
A video game character model designed by a game studio's art team is NOT real and does not exist in reality.
Photo of a real person /=/ screenshot of a video game character
Video game character /=/ a real life person

Ok...I see where this is headed. You exemplify the very definition of twisting and turning something. Probably wouldn't matter what I said in that post you quoted, you'd probably find some way to link it back to this foolishness that you've been perpetuating for some time. I could've said color blind mod, and you'd have been like 'that's cheating because its manipulating the color scheme originally designed by the devs and gives color blind players an unfair advantage because they aren't distracted by all these colors of the game' or whatever.
Aaand you're a troll, well done on not using logic and using feelings to argue.
Honestly after reading your responses to what we've said, i can't help but to believe something is actually wrong with you.
There is no way a well adjusted normal person behaves and reacts, responds like you do. I wish you a good life, i am not bothering with this. Got better things to do with my time.
I'm pretty sure Kisai just lives for the argument (long time observer of forums, just saying... >.> )Ok...I see where this is headed. At any rate, since this is still ongoing my 2 cents (echoed by many others in the thread in one fashion or another) is at the end of the day, for the most part many of the supposed victims are not going to know if their character has been photographed in the buff, and considering you need very specific parameters met in order to do so, its not a thing that happens very frequently if I had to take a guess. Yeah sure, there are mods that turn very specific glam pieces into lingerie or into a modded version of itself, but usually only the person modding really cares about that on their own character, not another person's character.
Bottom line is if the OP is seriously afraid because of harassment, they need to report it to the proper authorities, but otherwise let it be. If someone wants to take the risk to mod their game to their tastes, who am I to judge? I play vanilla and that suits me just fine, which is what matters in the end. If someone is being harrassed with modding, report it and move on, they will surely be dealt with. It's no use to drag a whole group down due to actions of a few stupid individuals, that is just opening a whole can of worms...
