Mod users in FFXIV are getting out of control

Nude mods will always exist in games, nothing worth getting so worked up over. If SE do plan on doing anything, it would most likely be removing the ability to mod at all which hurts the community more than it actually helps it. And at the end of the day, even if you do feel a strong attachment to your character, it's still just pixels and not actually your person that is getting "violated".

This reminds me of that thread a while ago where people got offended by others copying their character specs in a game where our options for diversity are already limited. A complete and utter waste of time and your own enjoyment of the game.

A large majority of people who use these mods don’t care about what your toon looks like, they care about what their toon looks like for their enjoyment. Mods are against TOS so is reshade and ACT. Don’t like the things don’t use them, otherwise get over it it’s a game not like they are creeping on you irl. Ps. The nude mod isn’t new it’s been around for a long time.

The first part of Malora's post holds true, to be honest OP it's something that's beyond your control and we have to just deal with it, it's just part of human nature, I do understand why it would make someone uncomfortable... so you have my sympathies there. I wouldn't give a flying fart if it was just their character, but if it's others..ah well what can you do? It's not like you're gonna know I was fishing on my Roe, in the middle of a lake in Yanxia, when I get a lala come flying down and just friend request me... was I sitting there stark naked on their end?! That is funny as hell though tbh XDXD

Unpopular opinion here. I can understand OP's worries. I didn't know modding had become that extreme, and hearing this makes me uncomfortable too, truth be told.

IDGAF about mods, people have every right to enjoy this game whatsoever as long as they don't violate the ToS, that said, I'd definitely report anyone who tells me they could see my character naked while I'm not wearing The Emperor's New~gear nor using the mod myself.

Modding in any form does violate the ToS. So do parsers and hunt trackers, and those tend to be ignored too. They're not doing things like WoW and GW2 do where they'll scan your computer looking for known programs like that.

As someone in that very discord, this is flat out wrong. The SFW side of modding took off exponentially once modding became both more wide-spread and easier to create.

Putting that aside, why does it matter what someone else sees on their client? You are not your character no matter how much you may identify with them. Likewise, what someone else experiences has no bearing on your enjoyment of the game. The vast majority of people modding, even those with nudity mods, are doing it for themselves. I know plenty who are particularly shy irl and explore sides of themselves they only can in a virtual world. Who are they harming if they want to prance around naked when only they see it? These mods are little different than someone using their imagination, or have you never heard the saying, "Just picture them in their underwear/naked?"

I wouldn't worry. Very few people actually abuse mods, and those who are caught instantly lose access. If there is one thing I can say, the mod community polices itself quite well. They don't want jerks around anymore than those who don't.

What abuse is being shown here? No offense, but this actually adds credence to people who claim you're being too sensitive. The person is simply saying if SE bans mods, people who are jerks will still be jerks. And she isn't wrong. Look at parsers. More often than not, it's the... lesser skilled players complaining about low DPS and berating everyone.
