    Ok this I understand.

    BUT

    Why doesn't SE do anything?

Example: world first ultimate all the top statics competing against each other. Each and every one of them was 'hacking' (according to YOUR terms) using the DPS meter. Yoshi P and others of the team were watching the streams every one of those streams had visually DPS meter windows in them.

Yoshi and his team were just smiling and congratulating the worlds first to down it.

Why didn't they ban all those players that were 'hacking' abusing the rules and do as they please?

Why make rules if they don't enforce them.

If people are getting banned by this I'll be the first one to remove the DPS meter, but nobody is so I'm just using this little meter and be quiet about it, it shows my DPS and that's all I care about.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.

If they go after clothing thing, they have to go after others and I know from how many people kept making parser topics and those topics huge just imagine if all of them decided to use it.
just imagine if they did crack down and half of every server were banned that would be destruction of FFXIV some would come back some would quit to not do progress anymore.

tons of money down drain if you take care of one you have to take care of them all.

    Just imagine the chaos.
    losing housing.
    millions of gil
    crafting jobs all gone
cant get back into servers they are full
    names lost
if you were leader of FC or LS's gone.

yeah I don't think people would come back.

Lets be more realistic, lets say they did begin banning, it could cause friendships to end, you don't know if friends use stuff and could be long time friends wonder what they would think if they found out this topic was reason they were banned think they would forgive I don't think they would just a thought and my opinion.

I say think before you leap.

ACT reads the data between the client and server to determine what your parses are. ACT writes to your harddrive and never sends its information to the FF14 servers, ACT also does not write to your game client. ACT displays its information with an overlay which is effectively another window opened on top of the client. ACT does not try to gain access to anything without your permission and only has network access when you're updating the software or uploading your parses to the website.

The Mabinogi hack you're referring to is people actually hacking the packets of information to find a weakness to exploit and then sending information to the server to delete character information. The Mabinogi hack is different in almost every conceivable way from ACT. The only similarities to them is they were both written by a third party.

    lol

Let me ask you guys something: does anyone know what hack or hacking means?

I ask because I'm seeing this word being misused a lot. ACT could be considered a hacking tool but we'd need to know SE's exact stance on it which could be inferred or implied.

You can't synchronize perfectly in quite a few fights. V5S would eat right through this supposed programming because, again, randomized mechanics. Which you should know if you have done any time at all in V5S. Or V7S, because of Virus + searing wind. Again, no benefit.
I'm just coming back after 3 years, so what has changed with ACT that makes it cheating? Or makes content easier? If you are saying that seeing your dps, hps, etc.. . Is cheating, or even makes it easier, well you'll need to explain that one.

I don't really care for this discussion and it doesn't belong in the thread... but every time I read this, i think of call outs. ACT telling people their dps and raid dps doesn't technically make content easier but when you have it set to give call outs for incoming attacks and whatnot... You are making the content easier for yourself using a third party program. This is the only part of ACT that I can't bring myself to agree with.

Modders ruined games I liked playing. I see this happening again, and people defending tools like ACT FFXIV Plugin don't want to admit that they are cheating, and when they ask for hard content, they don't get it. Players who play the game legitimately need to be able to complete content without using those tools.
Wow... I don't even... Talk about living in a bubble.

Nothing changed with ACT in it's core. Still parses combat data. You could use it for triggers but that's been around for a long time i believe?
